Booked for a meal for a group of 13. Was sent 3 menus, on arrival told only had 1 available, alit of the menu also not available. Food very poor standard, cooked steak wring twice after being sent back. The service for the waitress was great, very attentive and apologetic, the waiter serving the drinks was terrible, juts dumped on the table, actual put a pint in front of 6 year old, clearly not paying attention pushed a door in to in to my father in law.The pub itself is very nice, great beer garden, play area for kids, plenty of seat.Food is shocking

Went for my Dad's birthday and can quite happily say the food and service was spot on. We had the Sunday menu with a roast dinner highly recommend. The veg was a bit over done, however the sticky toffee pudding was too die for! Will definatley be returning to try the normal menu.

Firstly Iâd like to say âWillâ is an asset to this company. Heâs so friendly and happy to help. Always straight to it with a smile. In regards to my stay, the room was spot-on for what I needed. I needed a comfy bed, a clean room, a place to make a cup of tea and a bathroom with a nice shower and thatâs exactly what I got.Donât get me wrong there are things that can be updated â for example, the floor creeks in room eight quite a lot but it doesnât really bother me and the overall look could be updated but that doesnât stop me staying here or having a pleasant time. I will say my only bugbear was that there was no plug right next to the bed and there was no breakfast but again it didnât bother me too much.I went downstairs for food both evenings and it was amazing. I highly recommend the lamb rump steak and the fish and chips. The service is quick, and friendly and even in busy times when they look rushed off their feet they always checked in to make sure we were okay or if we needed anything else.I donât really understand the other reviews that are incredibly negative regarding this place but each person has their own opinion. The staff were friendly, the room was a nice quiet place for me to rest my head and I felt safe.I was in room eight at the end of the building and there was a football match on on my second night and after 10 pm I couldnât hear a single thing. The only noises I ever did hear were people using the toilet in another room or talking really loudly but again that wasnât that often and it didnât bother me.If youâre going for a luxury hotel this isnât for you but if youâre going for friendly, quiet, comfortable and simple that is the perfect stop.Iâd quite happily go back again and stay overnight again. And Iâm a female on my own for work. Thanks Griffin Inn - you are great!!

Despite them not being over-busy, service was quite slow & we had to chase up staff to take orders for both main & dessert courses. We were generally satisfied with the quality of the food except the burger which was of a poor standard & we complained. Eventually they made a conciliatory gesture by removing one glass if wine from the bill (i.e. 1/2 the cost of the burger)

RoomÂŁ60 for a room with no breakfast in this location is excessive. The room is very tired (the bathroom is renovated though) and the noise from the pub downstairs is very loud. I stayed two nights and the service came in to open the window only.FoodWe were a group of 8 for Sunday lunch. The food is OK and so is the price, but there are serious problems with the service. Our food order was lost so it came one hour late... An extra round of drinks on the house would have been nice. The same thing happened with the table beside us.

Love this place. Has everything - good indoor space and a fantastic outside area. Excellent food, friendly staff and a really good drinks choice. And in a very nice area. Well worth a visit

Been here a few times now and it's always been good. We went on Sunday for a Roast. We both had the moving mountains roast which is a plant based Sunday roast and have to say it was pretty poor.. It was made up of 2 big chunks of soya protein and 3 different veg. Spuds, carrots and greens. For a vegan roast you'd think we'd have more veg Than meat substitute? Now this may come as a suprise but eating plant based we do like our veg. Ordered soup to start and the roasts were brought out first meaning that they were sent back while the soup was brought out. Was asked if we would have our mains at the same time as the starter. Our mains were clearly just kept under a hot lamp and kept warm as the spuds that came back out were tough. And everything went a bit dry. Overall it was a bit of a let down. Don't get me wrong it's a lovely pub and the staff are all really nice and the atmosphere was great but if you're vegan and want to get out for lunch on a Sunday then I can't recommend this place.

Really good experience. Was extremely busy but was still served in good time and food come fairly fast, was fresh and hot. Kids loved the play area outside. Overall was really nice!

Comfortable and large room. Very clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Large heated outdoor facilities for a relaxing couple of drinks after a long drive. Would definitely recommend for an overnight stop over.

Lovely little pub, was there for a funeral so keep that in mind for the review! The room was lovely and clean and cosy, perfect for what was needed. The staff all seemed really friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious, I'm not sure if they're items from the usual menu or not but the seeded bread for the sandwiches was lovely really fresh and spongey if that's the right word for bread! The potatoes in mustard dressing though *chefs kiss* and there was gammon on a platter too which was really nice and not dry as it can be sometimes. Overall I really liked the place and would love to return to sample the menu as a paying customer and most likely will do at some point!
