Hesketh Tavern in Stockport

The main course was quite good. However, I ordered the coffee and cake off the sweat menu and was given a choice between a hot cross bun (?) and a rice krispie square. I decided to go for the hot cross bun. unfortunately it arrived 30 minutes after the coffee and I didn't have time to eat it. When we went to pay the bill they added two extra coffees that we hadn't ordered. Poor service, won't be returning.

Very nice pub. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a welcoming member of staff. After getting our drinks, we were seated and were served by a very approachable and down-to-earth server. The only negative was the 45 minute wait for food 🙁 But for this I would have rated the experience 5 stars! Nice staff, lovely food with just the right sized portion. Shame about the lengthy wait.

Haven't been for years but new Management when recently went for meal. Food was excellent and not all usual pub grub. Manager and staff were extremely friendly and attentive. First time took part in pub quiz and enjoyed evening. Will definitely go again. Tuesday nights meals 2 for 1 as well

We had a family birthday celebration and booked a table for 11 people. We were served by the lovely Sue who gave us exceptional service throughout the meal. Nothing was too much trouble and she went above and beyond to make this a special family meal. Food was lovely and highly recommend the Sunday Roast. Fabulous experience and will be back soon. Thanks again Sue - would highly recommend!

Always loved The Hesketh but what has happened. Called in for drinks and food with the family. Greeted by a very unpleasant Wendy and it got worse. No food being served at 7.30 on a Saturday and our family could not sit together. Wendy then shouted across that no more drinks served to our children in their 20s with no explanation. Wendy was more troublesome than them! I went to complain and she was ‘upstairs’. I told the bar staff she had the charisma of a rattle snake and they suggested “7 rattlesnakes”. Sadly the place was empty too. Word had spread locally about this individuals customer service skills but I wasn’t prepared for it. We went elsewhere for food locally and no complaints there about the ‘kids’. Such a shame.

Opted for the Roast Beef Dinner. Massive Yorkshire pudding and a good plate of food. Nice gravey too. A thumbs up from me.

One of the best Sunday roast I have ever had. Super friendly staff, great experience in a very beautiful English pub. Will definitely go back

Absolutely fantastic meal at the Hesketh, could only manage mains, my wife and son had the braised beef Wellington, the presentation was fantastic and my son declared that it was his favourite ever dish. I was boring and had sirloin, cooked perfectly and a really good steak . 10/10 The staff were great in particularly the lady from St Helens , thank you.

Catch up family meal, we were a large group and had our own area which was very private. Food choice was excellent and when served lived up to expectations. Staff were very friendly and attentive, no issues even with some of the party being delayed. Fabulous atmosphere, would definitely recommend, advisable to book ahead to secure a table.

Easy off road parking. The meals and service have always been good.
