We stopped in for a quick lunch and the place is great. Super location by the canal with a great outdoor patio. The landlord and staff were all super friendly and helpful. The food was a real surprise, and was top notch, obviously great quality ingredients and well prepared. The pate and the calamari were stand out, and even the pub staple of scampi and chips came with great quality fresh peas. Also great that they are dog friendly, fresh water bowls everywhere. Will definitely visit again.

Stopped in for a quick drink, told i couldn't order at the bar and its table service only, all tables were reserved at 12.10 on a Tuesday afternoon, only ordered a pint of beer and a coke and ended up walking out after 15 minutes as no drink was served as they wwre apparently cleaning the lines. Why on earth would this be done during opening hours or why not given option to purchase bottled drinks?Been here a few times and having a pint is made complicated, i dont want you to force me to show me to a seat or take my order and then pay at the end. If im stood at the bar just take my order and let me sit where I like. There was about 4 other groups of people who all had similar issues about where to sit or where are the drinks, ill go elsewhere next time.I ask the landlord, would you be happy at going into a pub, ordering 2 drinks and them not being served 15 mins later?I came in off a canel walk for 1 drink with my wife and baby and you tell me to get a can from the supermarket because i cannot be served in a timely manner, speaks volumes about yourself not me.

Fantastic pub. When we were here it was Easter Sunday pub was very busy with serving food as well as drink but the staff were brilliant. We didn't have long to wait for our drinks( table service only) seeing it was v busy. We will definitely visit again when in the area.

There was a young girl tending to an elderly lady asking what she would like for drinks, the female manager/owner shouted her over and said “you need to just be rude to them” hurrying her along. Great service from the young girls, poor Sunday lunch. Raw vegetables undercooked potatoes and the carrot and swede was runny. Will not be going back starters were nice shame about the dinner had better school dinners

Called in for a couple of drinks whilst cycling along the canal.Lovely place, warm and friendly staff. Great outdoor seating area right on the canal side too.The food looked great but we didn't have time to stay as we had cycle back before it got dark.Well impressed, we will be back!

Fantastic atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Service 10/10 as continued to promote table service only (really love having my drinks brought over to me) no queues at the bar 👍🏽. Great quality home cooked food with varied menu. Would highly recommend.

We stopped in here after a lovely walk. Second time I've been here, the first time was a similar experience - the landlord always seems a little grumpy, but that's OK. This time we had Sunday roast - which was great if your not a veggie - otherwise you're stuck other overpriced, over cooked vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding. I'm pretty confident the potatoes were roasted in the goose fat too (you know they don't actually know what vegetarian is when you are offered prawns and told plant based alternatives don't keep very long making it unviable to cater for - welcome to 1922, not 2022!). Thankfully my meat eating friends enjoyed theirs, but I can't say I'll be back for food. Oh, and only one choice of alcohol free beer - Becks Blue, and let's be honest that's not even a beer - and with so many wonderful alternatives these days a bit disappointing. This pub is so well decorated, looks modern but is trapped in yesteryear with choice. Come on I know you can do better!I wonder what the landlord/owner thinks about expanding their range for vegetarians and people who choose not to drink alcohol?// in reply to the rather aggressive response from the landlord - I've also just read all the other 1 and 2 star reviews. Just wow (to the response)I don't think I was particularly harsh with my review, and I am sorry if you felt it wasn't truthful. I was not being offensive with the 'grumpy' I'm sure if you took feeback from customers they might also agree, and like I said it was OK. My party and I certainly weren't pompous - we were very accommodating to your service even in what seemed like a fairly quiet Sunday (you had several tables available when we arrived). My comments about the roast potatoes was true, I know the taste of animal fat in my mouth - greasy and unpleasant. I don't believe they were vegetarian. And disappointing it was just my meal that had the overcooked brocoli - it is hard to get it just right, but I can assure you that it was the same for my entire party. I wonder how you would react if people did complain, would you listen, or just argue? Do you think you create a pleasant space for feedback and adapt to change and ideas?Anyway, I can assure you I won't be opening a pub, traditional or otherwise, so you're business is very safe from the competition of what obviously would be an awesome establishment. Finally, all the staff we spoke to were lovely, we had no idea they thought we were pompous until you said. But thank you for the feedback we'll try better next time.

Daughters meal not edible - far too much pepper all over the potatoes. Her replacement meal didn't arrive before the rest of the family had finished their mediocre meals. Very disappointing as we've had nice meals there before😔

Only popped in for a beer after a walk down the canal. Wow was it clean. Table service and a great pint good coffee ,and the young girl who was serving was cleaning the table's as soon as people left. Don't see that much now. Very nice staff would recommend.

Lovely pub, food and staff! Very accommodating of us popping in without a reservation on a Sunday. Sunday lunch was gorgeous and will definitely be back again!
