Stables Kitchen in Stockport

Can’t order inside menu to sit and eat outside. End up queuing for a ridiculously long time outside to order the outdoor menu only which is different. Wait time and service appalling. Need to improve system. People would order more food and drink if it wasn’t for the long wait and inflexibility.

I have eaten here countless times and the food and drink I have had has always been very good. Just a word of advice to diners. The outside menu is different to the inside one (or at least it was when I went recently) and when I asked for a dish that was on the outside menu when seated indoors, I was told this was not possible.

I have never really had a pleasant, amazing service in this cafe. And I am a local meaning I probably have been to the cafe every month at least with the kids so regularly.Firstly, the manager (not sure of her name-blond early 40s?) Is particularly rude and unwelcoming. She also speaks in a very condescending manner. Not big or clever and it probably puts alot of people coming in here! There is also another young girl who works here (ethnic looking) who can also be equally rude and condescending.The cafe, like many people have commented is overpriced and you spend loads for a meagre, not overly nice food. The main reason we come in as I have two small children and a teen who like to have a hot chocolate or a slice of cake after the long walk to and around the park. We also occasionally have lunch here. Which we have encountered many issues with, i.e cold chips, food taking way too long with two hungry, irritable kids and no sympathy when asked how long it would be. Instead, you are met with more rude, condescending responses like it is YOUR fault.TBH, its much more pleasant to order from the outside cabin which shows its mainly the service thar is lacking!Last time came in was horrendous. We had been to the Santa experience which had overran so we had two restless, hungry children who didnt want any of the outdoor menu (mainly chips and sandwiches!) They both like the turkey and cranberry sandwich but was told this could only be ordered inside! So we asked the cafe manager if we could order the food straight off as there was a bit of a wait for a table and politely asked if we ordered while we were waiting then it would reduce the waiting time. We stipulated the CHILDREN'S food only as they were hungry! We weren't bothered about ourselves. We were rudely told we couldnt do this because "it doesnt work that way" absolutely ridiculous.When we did order it took ages for it to arrive. Fed up of having such a unpleasant experience in here. They need to sort themselves out

Inside serves the most dry, stale, tasteless and expensive slices of cakes. Waitress just said 'sorry about that' like it's a regular thing. No refund or replacement. Poor service all round. Definitely won't be coming back again. There's no hot water in any of the toilets either, what's that about!

Fast, friendly service for our family, outdoor Boxing Day get together. Great spot and great coffee and hot choc. Thank you!

Although it's a nice place and the team is friendly, the service is quiet late. To have a drink the waiter said we should wait around 20 min and she forgot our order until we had to remind the guy again.

A lovely kitchen establishment. We were seated immediately and there was efficient table service. The food on offer was just right to fill the hunger (hot and cold). There is also a selection of brownies, treats etc on the front counter.

The management of this place needs to quickly learn how to run a business. They can’t work out if you order inside, at table, at counter. Breakfast is supposed to be ordered until 11.30 but if they are busy this will change. Its a great location but the management of the offering is sub standard. They are happy to turn money away. Very odd business model. You obviously need more kitchen staff.

We popped in one afternoon, the coffee was lovely and my husband enjoyed the scone. However, the rose, pistachio slice was very dry.

Gorgeous food but the atmosphere is a bit off putting. If you're not one for a hectic eatery with screaming children I'd say this place is not for you. The four stars are purely for the food as it is as I said gorgeous, especially the full English breakfast which is served till 11:30 every day! And the portion sizes are great.
