The Governer's House Pub in Stockport

spent the night there after our great granddaughters christening. Lovely place. Lovely food. Breakfast to die for. Compliments to chef and thanks to Claire our waitress nothing was too much trouble. Defo recommend Defo worth a visit

It was a nice stay, staff were very helpful. Clean and nice room with a cozy bed. Just was last minute booking and felt a bit overpriced, but it was worth.

Great venue/pub and friendly staff which we have visited quite a few times over the years. Unfortunately very disappointed with the food on our visit to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Yes, pub = pub food (not gourmet restaurant food). The Lasagne looked and tasted like a sloppy shepherds pie, refund given for this dish. The Signature Hunters Chicken was very salty and overpowered by sauces/flavourings.

Busy, but seemingly understaffed. Shown to our table but not offered a menu. 10 minutes later went to the bar to ask for menus. Drinks order received 30 minutes later. Then waited ages for starters to arrive, but main course arrived as soon as starters cleared. With one notable exception, the waiting staff seemed overwhelmed by their work load. On the plus side, the food was good and was certainly good value for money.

1 pm saturday lunch ....Not impressed, 30 mins in and we had to find someone to take our order out of stock of half the products ( no sausage on mixed grille no fish fingers for child's meal) mixed grill was not hot no staff to complain to paid at end not even asked how our meal was. Not again I'm afraid... you have since replied that it was an oversight on staffing levels.....well I can only hope no one else came in because it was really quiet when we were there more than enough staff per customer

Great atmosphere/surroundings, lovely food, and even lovelier staff. We stayed overnight, and we were served breakfast by Claire in the morning; she was absolutely amazing and couldn't do enough for us! The breakfast itself was the best I've tasted in any hotel. Great place to visit, highly recommended 👍

We love coming to this pub very local to us. Even better now they have had the refurbishment it looks great. All staff are very accommodating and friendly especially Claire. Great atmosphere and food lovely and very reasonable.

Food was terrible, it was warm not cooked properly. They were not busy so had no excuse. Will not go again. The refurbishment is very nice.

Good value, however we didn't order our desserts at the same time as our mains (they were free as part of a deal) and the manager wouldn't let us order them unless we paid. Not very understanding. Wont be returning.
