The James Watts in Stockport

Easily the best real ale pub in the area. ( but Wobbly Stamp micro bar beats it on regular range turnover.) Since pandemic they concentrate on the whole range of Hydes beers. (Hydes, Beer Studio, Provenance, Ralf and Alf.) Friendly pub refurbished to a very good standard. Lovely staff.

I’ve been visiting this pub since the old Star days, Liz the former landlady did an exquisite job of transforming it to a staple pub amongst the many local Cheadle clientele for many years. Unfortunately the new owners don’t have the same drive or passion to keep this reputation. They seem happy to keep the custom of the lower class of society in their establishment. Which is a shame when compared to how the former landlady had transformed the pub into THE central pub of Cheadle. Avoid at all costs if you want a nice social drink - you may accosted by an angry local who has the protection of the staff

Love this pub. Years ago it was a really quiet old man bar you wouldn't look twice at. Now it's one of the best places to drink in cheadle. Stylish and relaxing with great decor, lovely staff and a chilled vibe not to mention a great selection of gin. It's a brilliant bar to meet friends and catch up and not that I'm a smoker but I have to say the smoking area is one of the best I've seen! It looks really inviting and not like an afterthought like so many of them do.

Nice done out pub. Great selection of ales and spirits . Small food menu and nice little garden space.
