Whittakers Fish Bar in Stockport

Excellent as always! Lovely fresh white cod in superb light and crispy batter cooked to order with great chips and proper mushy peas. It says it all when there are always people prepared to wait. Yum!!

Last week ordered fish and chips peas at the spot. Last night chips were awful, unfresh and cold. Will review ordering from this place again. Its not cheap. Disappointed.

The absolute best fish and chip shop around. It is the only place I will go to if I fancy fish for dinner.

We ordered from here last night, only to get the order back to the car to find serval items missing (thankfully I up packed the order in the car to double check as many times before items have always been missing) I went back in to the shop twice for the missing items only to be told ‘ it was someone else who finished my order off’ no apology and bad customer service, when I got home I also realised there was no salt & vinegar on the chips either (not the end of the world but just another blow) it’s been a while since we have visited here for the above reasons and thought we would give it another go, extremely disappointing and wouldn’t recommend

Ordered chippy for the children and staff at the nursery to celebrate queens jubilee…. Delicious food, delivered in time and smiles all around ❤️❤️ Thank you!

Lovely tasty food, my only gripe is that we asked for lots of salt but got hardly any.

It's always Whittaker's, we try other fish and chip places occasionally but always come back here, it's our favourite one by a mile.

Ordered a Wigan kebab from here with chips and gravy and it was fresh, hot and a taste of the homeland. Will be returning, possibly on my lunch today!!!

Food from here is usually good. Ordered from here tonight, chips were stone cold and the chicken platters were missing 2 strips each. Fish batter was soggy. Went to the restaurant, they said there were definately 4 strips put in each box, even going to check the cameras. There were certainly only two when i put the food on the plates. Guess my dogs must have opened the boxes and eaten two each, then closed the boxes after. Cheeky hounds!!! Overall, very dissapointed with the food and experience. Will probably go to Fosters next time.

I have been ordering fish and chips on a regular basis from Whittakers for many years and I prefer to use their delivery service. The fish is always fresh and delicious and the batter is light and crispy. However the same can't be said for the chips! When my order was delivered tonight, the chips were dried up scraps and definitely not freshly cooked. They looked as though they had been standing around for ages. When I rang to complain I was told that on a Friday evening they have over 200 orders and the chips are not left standing for more than 4 minutes. I offered to give them back to the driver but was told they weren't allowed to collect. This is not the first time this has happened and I am afraid to say that I won't be ordering chips to be delivered from Whittakers again.
