Martin's Craft Bakery in Tameside

Only pre packed sandwiches now , hot pot half filled case, lukewarm and crust burnt to the sides..Loaves are dry and break apart easily ..Craft bakery…. I think not, mass produced goods with Artisan pricing ..Poor all round

Bought 2 steak pies today. Cost me £4.30 which is expensive. Full of gristle. Really disappointed

I wonder if Martin's Bakery offers customer service training to their staff? The Dukinfield staff clearly do not represent the brand positively, their customer service skills are awful.

Sorry Martins, but charging an extra £0.15 for Lettuce on your sandwich/Muffins is not on at £2.40 each surely it should be covered in that price, after all it's only a sliver of Lettuce, I don't recall seeing any price's for the Sandwich/Muffins, only a sticker on the pack with a + Lettuce, which I assumed meant it contains Lettuce where they are displayed in the cool fridge, it wasn't till after I lift the shop & look at my recipe that I noticed the extra charge on both Sandwich/Muffins.

Really like the pies, since lock down the range of other items has reduced considerably. I understand things change, but reduction is quite extreme and this is a bakers and sandwich makers, not just a pie shop. Staff have also changed I think, if they haven't then there personality has, there is not longer a friendly customer experience

Ok so before the lock down it was a really nice little bakery and sandwich shop to visit. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. One blonde lady with glasses used to set aside a vegan hotpot for me knowing I came every week and usually they'd all be gone by the time I get there at about 3 pm as I'm not an early bird. For this I'd give it 5 starts but give it only 3 due to the fact that since lock down the shop has been rearranged. Since then it's cold and dirty, the main staff member that deals with customers is pan faced, doesn't smile or ask you what can I do for you? Instead she stares at me and makes a gesture with her head as if to say "so? What do ya want?? I feel as if she's silently judging me the whole time. Other members of staff had to thank me for her when I was given change. The cajun sandwich is delightful but the rest is now tasteless and certainly not fresh. The coffee is way too strong and foul tasting. Wasn't sweet enough though I asked for 4 sugars. Usually having more sugars makes strong coffee taste better but in this case it was so strong that nothing could save it. Would be better ifyou were able to have it strong or weak or in the middle. Before lock down before when they used to hand make them in front of you they used to often skimp on the cajun and charge you extra for lettuce even though its standard price for a salad and don't charge extra for lettuce

Terrible service, staff aren't very friendly or welcoming. Everything seems too much to ask for. The food is mediocre and the coffees are horrendous. Definitely avoid going there.

Dreadful breakfast I asked for a full breakfast and was offered 5 items no prices or price list it was put into a filthy container and put in the microwave egg one bacon small sausage mushroom and I think it was a tomato I also asked for two toast that was put into a cardboard box still it was stone cold was horrible the worst I’ve had in a long time. Another customer came in complaining whilst I was there avoid there are far better around

TERRIBLE can't leave no stars.Thursday 9th just called in there to get a sandwich as I walked in the young girl in glasses was talking to her college's whilst scratching her chin ..no problem with that .It was when I asked for a Turkey sandwich that the problems started. Firstly after scratching herself she did not wash her hands THEN WITHOUT PUTTING ANY GLOVES ON she picked up a piece of Turkey meat with her fingers,saw that I had seen her do this and carried over to the other counter put a piece of celluloid on her hand and placed said meat on plastic still no gloves on Then she opened the muffin and transferred the meat from the plastic celluloid to her still unloved hand as she arranged the meat onto the muffin ....she at this point put....A...glove on put lettuce on the sandwich with the gloved hand and completed the sandwich.Removing the glove and passing me the wrapped muffin asked me anything more ? yes I replied 2 jam tart PLEASE REMEMBER SHE WAS SCRATCHING HERSELF THEN TOUCHED COOKED MEATS MADE A SANDWICH THEN PICKED UP 2 FRESH CREAM CAKES WITH THE SAME UNWASHED FINGERS AND HANDS.I could explain at least 4 different hygiene codes she has broken i.e. cooked meats with fresh cream cross contamination ....allergies across certain food stores ...I will expect a response from the owner to my comments. I received a personal phone call today from Toby a Director of Martins Craft Bakery about my previous post who I can only say dealt with my concerns on a personal and has to be said extremely professional level. His assurance on looking into the matter and dealing with it with swift response was refreshing to say the least. This he did true to his word and I can only thank his quick and effective manner in dealing with what really was only a training issue. His manner and attitude and his genuine gratitude of my highlighting this matter,was superb and his dedication to his outlets and individual staff growth was plain and honest thus I cannot give anything but 5 star. Being in the industry for some 20 years too many “bosses” pass blame and assign no fault to management. He did nothing of the sort. I commend him for this and wish himself and his business every success in the future. You have a great product that should never be diminished by simple training error. Thank you again to Martins Craft Bakery for excellent customer service.
