I have been going to The Sheldon Arms for a while, especially for a Sunday roast. They never let you down: very friendly staff (a special mention to Shannon) even when the place gets really (!) busy. Food is really good and portions are very generous. We really like it, as simple as that!

Had a table booked for 7pm. Arrived early was taken to our table. We were then left for half an hour(and we had to ask for someone to take our order) we hadn't even been asked if we wanted a drink. The table next to us came in after and they were served but we were ignored. We finished our carvery and drinks and then waited for someone to come over and ask if we wanted a dessert. Yet again we had to ask someone to take our plates away and for more drinks. Then the lady came to ask if we wanted to pay the bill to which we stated we hadn't even had a dessert. All in all the service was horrendous and it wasnt even busy. Will think twice before going again.

Never been before , usually go to the farmhouse inn over the road but that’s gone right down hill. I was shocked the carvery here was the best I have had , everything cooked beautifully and the meats were absolutely beautiful, compliments to the chef 👩‍🍳

Arrived for our booked table, no real issues being sat down. Arrived at 6 and was left 30 minutes before anyone took our food order. Ordered fish and chips with mushy peas. Mushy peas were cold. Don't bother ordering a refill drink they won't ask you if you want a refill. We had to go to the till to pay as once we'd finished our food they didn't bother to clear our table. And then was charged for the wrong table. Service was incredibly poor and food was very bland.

We booked our table a week in advance for 14 people , we had to wait half hour for our table. Then we sat there for close to an hour for the table service. When we got served we then went on to wait close to another hour for the food to start coming out after going complaining about the wait for pizza and chip's for the children . Then to find out on a busy Sunday they had no manager or supervisor on site to help sort out the all the problems with the meal's, I have been to the Sheldon on multiple occasions and never experienced this before 🤔 We then had to clear our own table so that when the desert's finally came out. It wasn't the best experience for my mum's birthday 😔

We booked for 7:45pm on their website and they did not not have our booking, when we arrived we were told they were only doing the carvery at which we decided to carry on with our night out. We sat down and ordered drinks with the waiter and he brought them over quick enough as the place was very quiet, then as we ordered our 5 carvery meals we were told the food closed at 8pm. We then went up straight away at which point we were told they only had gamon and turkey no pigs in blankets which we paid extra on the larger carvery but no mention of them then the food was cold and the veg was dryed out, most of us just grazed the food and left most of the meal. We are not the type to complain so paid and ran never to return 😡

Staff nice ,manager not so great I paid £13 for a carvery, went to get it and all meat was dried up ,what was left of it manager refunded me and said sorry but we cant make the food cook quicker. No but I would expect that you manage it better wrong attitude and it wasn't exactly busy and was only 4pm on bank holiday

Went this evening for mother in laws birthday, 1st time eating here. Absolutely lovely. Great friendly staff, menu great, my daughter enjoyed the carvery the service was fast and food was delicious off the menu. Will definitely recommend (I don't normally do reviews) booked again for Sunday lunch. Big thumbs up from our party this evening.

Clean, friendly JW Lees pub and restaurant offering a good selection of food and drinks at good prices - would recommend.Possibly the biggest fish I've ever eaten, heavy on the batter but very nice.

Lovely evening here. First time in a long while. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Our server Aimee was really nice. The food was fantastic. I had the carvery and the wife had cheese pie. Both dishes were delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. Lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.
