Firstly, no problem with the staff, absolutely lovely and astute. Interior is very lovely and chilled. Dog friendly as well.The food is not worth the money, had a steak and ale pie which was the driest thing known to man, the chips were undercooked and the peas couldn't even be called peas. Typical JW Lees pub, won't be coming back.

Worst experience ever. After giving our drinks order and receiving our drinks, we were asked if we were ready to order, we hadn't been given any menus. This being rectified, the server came back 1 minute later and asked if we were ready to order - who can read a menu and decide in a minute?Having given our order, the starters arrived and were really nice. Then came the mains, I only ordered a small beer battered fish and chips - to say the fish was the worst I have ever tasted is an understatement, it was rubbery and chewy, not flakey as cod should be and the chips were oven chips - yuk.Needless to say it was sent back and removed from the bill.Overall, the service was well below par. If it was busy I could maybe understand but the place was empty.I will not be going back.

SHOCKING EXPERIENCE, We visited here after a nice walk around Dunham Massey and what a poor decision that was, despite reading some bad reviews on trip advisor and Google we thought we would go there with an open mind as it looked like a lovely pub and a lovely location. So this was our experience, while waiting 50 minutes for our dry and bland food , the chef wearing his normal outdoor clothes with merley and approx and no uniform, walked through the restaurant and proceeded to pet a customers dog and then touch his face and beard which I thought was incredibly unprofessional , unhygienic and not something someone's who's cooking food should be doing, especially in front of the people he supposed to be cooking for while they are sat there waiting an absurd amount of time. I can only hope he washed his hands and sanitized them before cooking or touching food, and amazingly the manager on the bar said nothing to him and was stood at the end of the bar with the staff laughing away and looking at their phones. So unprofessional, and that's not even the worst of it when! when the food came it was presented poorly on the plate , it looked like a child had thrown it in a bowl, sautéed potatoes were literally overcooked new potatoes that had been sliced and deep fried , this did not fool me ! And the veg was all mush and overcooked and tasteless, the menu said roasted salted beets yet we got mushed overcooked tasteless carrots. Really Really disappointing. This place clearly has a managerial problem and a problem in the kitchen because I have never ever seen or tasted food like this. NO urgency NO care , NO pride NO attention to detail NO seasoning NO flavour and ASOLUTELY NO way I will ever visit this place again.

Lovely country pub to stop and relax, either for a meal or just a drink.All our 4 meals were very tasty and very quickly served.All the staff were very friendly and helpful.Free car park can get quite full on a Sunday lunchtime / afternoon.They also have a nice private room for parties.

Used to love the place but gone down hill lately. No problem with dogs but not while I'm eating. Gents toilets needed a good clean. Sunday roast was nice but cold. Won't be going back. First time out for a long. Real Shame

Lovely location for circular walks in the Dunham Massey area. Very nice food and great service. Thanks to Phoebe for booking a table for us at short notice (when they were busy with functions), and for allowing us to leave our car on the car park whilst we went on our walk before lunch in the pub. Will happily visit again when in the area. Highly recommended. Many thanks

Friendly staff but not that attentive even though it was quiet. Food was good, Gammon steak with an onion bhaji……different but very tasty.

A pleasant enough meal but it's the little things that can make a place tank higher than others. Staff pleasant, but seemed slightly disorganised. Small thing, but the mains came out before anyone had cleared the starter plates.The food was fine. The pies were a bit dry especially round the edges but the meat was succulent and tender with plenty of taste. The cheese pie was a little bland. The burger went down very well also. No one came over and asked if everything was ok and ordering more drinks was more difficult than it should be.

Popped in for lunch. Tried a few of the small plates. Scallops were delicious, as was rhe caprese salad. Will be making a return visit for these dishes alone. Only gave 4 stars as the loaded fries weren't very loaded at all and were dried out so we didn't eat them.

A family friendly country pub from JW Lees that's a short walk from Dunham Massey. Offering a Sunday Roast this place has a small playground for children and plenty of outdoor eating options. Food wise, it's all perfectly appetising and cooked well but didn't blow my socks off. It's good but lacking a little in terms of flavours, everything is there but the Yorkshire pudding was a little too solid, the vegetables a little floppy and the potatoes were lacking the crunchy exterior that makes them great. It's a great meeting point and perfect for a family with small children.
