The Kings Ransom in Trafford

We visited on Sunday after a nice walk on the canal. We decided to try the carvary but we were left very dissapointed. The meat was cold, the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding was overdone (or left standing too long) and the sausage within the pigs in blankets was raw!Sorry to say we won't be visiting again.

I visited the pub on 8 March and 15 March and I received a £100 parking fine today for the 8 March visit,I had no idea that this car park did not belong to the pub and presumed it was the pub car park. I am extremely angry about the charge and I am very worried that I will receive another fine in the next few days for the visit on 15 March. Can the pub offer any help? I am very satisfied with the pubs response to the issue. All sorted now , thank you Tracy

Ordered lunch which was supposed to come with chips. It didn't. Our fault apparently as we were meant to order them as a side? No offer to bring chips either. Appalling customer service.

Lovely food , good prices, helpful friendly staff

Not the same pub as it was but friendly and nicely decorated. Gents toilets could do with a tidy up especially the hand dryer over the radiator. 2 pins £8.50 so like most pubs these days no cheap.All in all not a bad pub but lacks any soul or atmosphere in my opinion.

Okay, so I've been promising this review for a while now, but it would be fair to say I've been really struggling to get in the "zone" lately. I don't know whether it's the inclement weather at this time of year (I know this is MCR, but come on!), COVID blues, or the copious amounts of Peroni I've been enjoying, but in support of the latter suggestion, I've decided to finish this piece off from inside the pub with an icy cold pint of Italy's finest export (…after pasta!). Why ruin the habit of a lifetime, hey?The Kings Ransom graces the banks of the Bridgewater Canal at Sale Waterside. Ideally located for both the Metrolink and town centre, it's a jewel in the Greene King crown with a warm, homely interior, and fantastic outdoor (part-sheltered) beer garden. Parking is also available right outside (just make sure to Pay & Display...a refund is available with a QR code scan at the bar!)With a generous assortment of ales and wines, you're sure to find something to your liking. Obviously the Peroni is a cracking pint (those who drink it know it’s a fickle beer that many places get wrong), and I can personally recommend the Marlboro Sauvignon Blanc for those looking for a decent white with their meat/fish dish.Food is as you'd expect...wholesome and decent value pub grub. The portions are generous, and the menu varied. It's a comfortable step-up from what you'd get at Wetherspoons, but let's be honest, you don't come here for a Michelin experience, you just want something tasty to compliment your drink after a hard days graft, and with this in mind, the Kings Ransom never disappoints.A big personal thanks to the manager, Tracey, who was really accommodating the other week when we asked to be booked in for an Xmas meal at short notice. The table was beautifully presented (thank you to the lovely lady who looked after us) and the food was great. We were really impressed and had a fantastic afternoon out. We will definitely be back next year (but promise, we'll give plenty of notice next-time!)As for the staff, we are still relatively new "regulars", so don't know everybody's name yet, but everyone we've met so far has been absolutely great; the team here are a healthy mix of personalities, yet they have a great chemistry and really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Absolutely love that they've retained table service here too....it does get abused as I hate queuing at the bar.On a personal note, The Kings Ransom was the first pub I visited when I was considering moving to Sale in early-2013...being from outside the borough (Stalybridge), I really didn't know the area and I have a fond memory of perusing Rightmove for available properties, from the alcove at the top of the stairs as you walk in. Got lucky that day and found a 3-bed, just 5 minutes around the corner, where I still live to this day, so this pub does and always will have a special meaning to me.Top pub, warm and cosy, lots of flat-screens and sports on show. Best beer garden in Sale, without question. Quality pub food and welcoming staff; The Kings Ransom is the kind of pub that every town needs and every local should frequent. It's suffered its fair share of drama over the years, but has come a long way in recent times and should be given a second chance by those of you who may have previously been put off.Thanks Tracey & The Team and best wishes for the future!

I have visit the King's Ransom every week with a group of friends. We have canoe every week from their car park for years before going in for beer, and sometimes we stop for meals. The staff are friendly. The pub meets our needs perfectly in the twenty years plus that we have been going.

There's always parking available. You have to pay and display a ticket but part of the ticket is to detach and show it to the waiter when making the order and you will get a refund. It's like an oasis in the desert. Lovely atmosphere, very attentive and helpful staff, food is amazing and price moderate.It is also clean and inviting.You can sit down by the canal in Sale enjoying beautiful views, when the sun shines is just delightful.One of my favourites to meet with family and friends.Update, you don't have to pay parking anymore, you just scan your Code on ur arrival. The menu has got lots of new dishes and it got me really exited, Korean fish, tacos ( chicken or fish). Everything was colourful, fresh and delicious.You have the classic main meals 2 x £12.99 or u can choose 3 or 5 small dishes ehich were a decent size. (We order 5x small ones and couldn't finish between 2).

Enjoyable meal and drinks with friends. Large outside, covered area overlooking the canal.Friendly and efficient staff. Would recommend.Really nice inside decor.Average prices. There were a number of items not available on the menu, which is the main reason I have given 4 stars and not 5.
