The Pickering Arms in Warrington

Booked the Pickering Arms for a birthday gathering of 20 people to celebrate my daughters birthday. This was a last minute booking as I couldn’t accommodate everyone at home on such a hot day. (And wanted to enjoy the day myself )The experience was faultless from start to finish. The staff could not do enough, I would like to personally thank Jackie and Liola who were particularly tentative to making the afternoon run smoothly. The guests all commented on the venue, location and the quality of the buffet. The food came on time even though I requested it be brought out a bit earlier at very short notice.We had our dedicated area for the duration (we opted for the garden canopy seating area which was perfect) We were made to feel very welcome and not rushed in any way. Nothing was too much trouble. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all. (Especially the birthday girl) I will defiantly be booking again in the future. Thank you

We decided to book a table for 10 here, for a birthday celebration, as we had 2 gluten free people in our party, knowing they had an extensive gluten free menu. We found out that it had changed hands and there were only 2 gluten free starter options, 2 gluten free main options and no gluten free desserts. Some of the food was OK, but some was lacking in presentation and taste. The portion sizes were small. However, the staff were very polite and the service was great. The staff appeared embarrassed about the changes that had been made by the new brewery which was a shame. Apparently, customers have provided feedback. Brewery.....you need to listen to your customers! Very disappointing, we are reluctant to return.

First visit since change of management and revamp. Jackie was lovely as were all the staff. Food was excellent. Hopefully will have a few more real ales on in future but will be back to find out.

Went here as a guest for a Father's Day meal. Several of the dishes off the menu. Chose a roast lamb shank with Hasselback Potatoes. Came later than other main meals, but with apologies, and a complimentary drink. Lamb shank fine, vegetables, small portion and tired. Potatoes tired and tasteless. Other mains, also tired, steak served without vegetables or the garlic butter. Sweet potatoe fries soggy and bland. For the price, the steak was poor without vegetables. Burgers dry and over cooked. Maybe they'd had a busy day, but I've had far better for far less. Staff attentive and quick to serve. Maybe a less busy day may provide a better experience. Friends who have been before praised it to be fair. Times are tough in the pub/catering trade so you need to be on your game, tonight it wasn't. Pity.

Booked a table and then realised that the new owners have gotten rid of the Sunday fixed price menu and replaced it with an over priced one !!! I was a regular visitor to this pub and I always sung it’s praises.Booking cancelled and it’s now scrubbed off my list of decent pubs to go to that do great food and service at a GREAT PRICE !

Really cracking pub. Not noisy, great atmosphere and friendly staff who are both attentive and polite - if you're looking for somewhere for dinner this is a wonderful pub!Steak night on Thursdays too!!Special mention has to go to our waitress Maddy who was lovely and chatty - 5 star service ... thanks Maddy!!!

I must admit to being hugely disappointed when I walked in here and saw Wainwrights and Pedigree were there only draught beers. After having a pint of each I was left wondering what more I could have asked for. Both were in excellent condition and a credit to the landlord. I think the keep it simple, but do it well, idea probably extends to the food as well. The menu is not extensive. Once again, who needs it if the basic offerings are done well? This is a lovely, unpretentious pub in a picture postcard location. Gorgeous beer garden, interesting walks to be enjoyed thereabouts and the chance to experience one of the last two ferries across the Manchester Ship Canal.

A wonderful little pub dating back from the 16th century!They have a lovely selection of on tap beverages, the Madri beer is really smooth, I'd highly recommend!The pub is dog friendly and offers complementary dog treats

Stopped here on a whim. Very old, brilliant oldy worldy pub. Massive meals, excellent quality PUB food. Very busy, lots of locals, dog friendly. It's not find dining, it's just a great pub to have lunch or a drink in.

A quiet and quaint country pub in a beautiful setting. Great selection of food. Service was friendly but a little slow. Would revisit to try more things in the menu.
