Start one really positive note. Great cakes. Second. The staff are really friendly. But I know a big thing is made about the hot food by people but I just don't see it as being that good. Really not worth the money. But that is my opinion and doesn't mean it's right. But I still highly recommend the cakes and they tea and coffee.

Asked for a weak tea; either leave teabag out or give me hot water ( I left it up to them): this didn't happen. Asked for a plain scone with jam and cream,a fruit scone arrived. This was replaced by an extremely dry plain scone. When I asked for the bill I told the server that I wasn't impressed and that it was extremely dry. The girl was very pleasant and apologised but I still had to pay £6.25 !! Not really impressed!

Went with my wife and mother in law for breakfast. Lovely ambience, has a nice Cornwall-esque, victoriana seaside tearoom feel to it and as the name implies it shares with a well stocked old fashioned style sweet shop. The service was very polite and attentive. Food was freshly cooked and very tasty. They also did a lovely breakfast for my wife who is a coeliac. Would wholeheartedly recommend. Will definitely be going back again. Excellent.

Very risky place to eat (if you value hygiene)Called in for some cake and was disgusted by the tiny cake for which I paid well over the odds, bit into it and nearly lost a tooth it was that hard.dont normally bother leaving reviews but used the ladies and saw mouse droppings near the kitchennever again

First time I went and won't be going back.Service extremely slow. Waited more than 20 mins for waitress to take order and considering their was only 1 other couple in the tea rooms there was no reason for the slow service.Food not great, hot pot isn't the usual hot pot. A real let down for something that could be good. Felt uncomfortable being there

Called in with my daughter for lunch but was not very impressed. Waited about 15 minutes before they took our order. Food was ok but they serve the smallest jacket potatoes we have ever seen 😏. Waited ages again to pay, the waitress was just nowhere to be seen so got up and told the kitchen staff we would like to pay. Definitely won't be rushing back, didn't feel appreciated.

Afternoon tea. Unfriendly staff almost to the point of feeling like an inconvenience. One in our party is vegetarian & even after a discussion about her not eating fish, a tuna sandwich was served. The waitress said ‘Oh sorry about that’ then returned asking if she would like another sandwich, this never appeared ?! The cakes didn’t have the homemade feel although the sandwiches & scones were very nice & fresh. No one asked us if everything was ok. Will not be returning.

Very quaint tearoom with decent food. I had quiche of the day which tasted home made. And I liked the look of my partner's home made soup.
