Fifteens at the Fox in West Lancashire

After a long journey from Southampton to visit friends, The Fox was recommended and what a recommendation!!! The venue was very good. The food was fantastic (I ordered the lamb shank) and the staff was a credit to the restaurant. We know where to go for something to eat when we are in the area. I wish I took photos of our food!!

Booked a fortnight in advance, a really popular venue and I can understand why. Excellent service, delicious menu, appealing to all tastes and a broad range of drinks on offer, including a solid wine offer. Black pudding scotch eggs are a must starter.

We had a fantastic evening meal at The Fox couldn't fault the food or the service and the staff are friendly and helpful I would have given 5 stars except the dining chairs are to low down to make eating comfortable, apparently they are aware of the problemWould definetly go go back best food ever!

The fritto misto platter starter was delicious, perfectly cooked and flavoured. We shared between 4 and as much as we wanted more, it was a perfect amount for a starter.Mains, I had the feather blade of beef and it was slow cooked melt-in-the-mouth beef at the top of its game! The accompanying celeriac puree and potato that came with it were also tasty and well thought out.By all accounts the lamb shank and trimmed chicken were pretty good but the dauphinoise could have been more flavoursome (although well pressed).The only let down was the cheese pie that my Mum ordered which was far too sweet and tasted more like a dessert. They serve red wine jus with almost everything for some reason too, including the cheese pie. Red wine jus is good but some variation would be nice.All in all it's a great place with great decor, it's dog friendly (with a dog treat menu) and well worth a visit. Would only take a few minor tweaks to make this place five stars.

Fantastic place, the atmosphere is great, the staff are brilliant, professional and very kind. Could not fault the place.And the food? Exquisite! Party of five with everyone enjoying their meal, not one fault could you find. Except maybe too big a portion.This place is definitely on my favourite list!

Food was amazing Bit pricy tho Would highly recommend

Our first time here in over 30 years (I moved away a long time ago and back more recently), and have to say, it was lovely.The food delicious (see pics!) and the staff attentive and friendly.Plus points.... the staff, really good locally sourced ingredients, cooked to perfection and a very laid back evening. No one pressures you to have more or to leave when finished as often happens in other establishments. Perfectly paced.Negative points... well there are alwqys negatives but to be fair these are real nit picks. When we arrived we were asked to eat at the bar and order drinks. When we did the very pleasant bar man suggested we sit and he'd come take our order. Unfortunately he got sidetracked and this never happened.When the Maitre De came to escort us to our table he asked and was very surprised when we said we didn't have drinks.So, to complete, an excellent evening lovely staff, excellent food and a really good time.Would I go again? In a heartbeat. Yes.Great 'new' find ❤️

We had a lovely meal this week. The food was tasty and the service was good too. I would have given it 5 stars if only there had been another fish option on the mains menu, I'm not a lover of battered or breaded fish, but I do love a nice fillet with crispy skin! I'd certainly go back when visiting the area again.

We came across this country pub The Fox Roby Mill after driving around to find somewhere to eat after our walk near Parbold Hill & Fairy Glen just outside of Wigan, staff made us feel welcome even tho we hadn't booked we were still able to order food and we were seated in the dog friendly area its only a small area indoors but if you do come along with your pooches & can't find seating indoors there is a lovely huge garden area with plenty of seating, shelter & heating will definitely be coming back over the summer :)

Outstanding pib. Parking isn't great though. Very small. Carpark, awkward spots and lots of hopeless parkers. Inside is excellent, cosy mix of modern and oldy worldy. Big bar, great service. Recommend.
