Cycled up the hill early one morning. The restaurant was shut, I just sat on the bench outside and ate a banana while waiting for my heart and lungs to resume normal service. The bench was pretty comfortable and the flower beds next to it were well maintained. Can't fault my experience. 5/5

Went here with family for Sunday lunch. There is an old worldly feel but lacks any atmosphere at all. Most people went for the two course option which was very slow to appear. The food in general was standard roast meat, lamb in my case, was very average. I believe I had a sticky toffee pudding for afters which appeared to be off the shelf supermarket "ding" quality and though not bad was not that great either. Drinks were expensive and serving staff were not very attentive taking along time to clear. For me it was not good enough to give a second try . Sorry.

Food here is really nice. Staff are very friendly. Would recommend trying here only issue was it can be slightly pretentious. I like a roast piled on my plate not in 3 separate dishes. Like I say tastes amazing so do try

I had a steak which was cooked to perfection. My husband had cod, lemon samphire and squid, which was also excellent. The chocolate brownie was gorgeous. I intend to come back for Sunday lunch.

There was a 45/50 minute wait between the starter and the main course!! When the main eventually came the roast beef was over cooked, fatty and chewy and the veg was soggy. We also had a 30 minute wait on a drinks and dessert order. The service was terrible and it took over three hours to complete the meal. It is safe to say myself and my family won’t be returning!

An absolutely awful dining expereince. The food was bland and it was served aching slowly by overworked and inattentive staff. Multiple drink orders were seemingly forgotten and had to be chased up. The restaurant itself was cramped, with ceilings so low as to give the whole place a very claustrophobic atmosphere. This is not helped by the fact that they have crammed more tables than they have room for into the space, so that you are seated far too close to your neighbours and can hear everything being said at nearby tables.

We had Christmas Day lunch here, but I was disappointed. As you'd expect, it was expensive, but I don't think it was worth the money. The starters were fine. My husband and daughter had prawns. I had pate & would have liked a bit more toast than it was served with but that's a minor detail. Our main course took quite a while to arrive, but as the restaurant was busy, we waited patiently. When the food arrived, the vegetables were too soft for my liking, whilst the roast potatoes were under cooked. Dessert portions were very small & my daughter's so called sundae looked like it had arrived from the 1970's, complete with raspberry sauce. We have had Christmas Day lunch at Ashfield House on a number of occasions in the past & found the High Moor no match at all. In it's favour, the setting is lovely & the staff were very attentive, but we won't be going back.

The menu, which in some definitions is rather restricted, the food is amazing. The desserts where limited but lovely. This amazing food does come with a slightly higher than average price tag averaging out around £18 per dish. Positive options all in all.

Our favourite restaurant, and we had the pleasure of returning again to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary. As usual the service was perfect and the food was especially good last night! Highly recommend for that special occasion and their mid week menu is really good, and good value! thanks again The High Moor!
