Saracens Head in West Lancashire

We love this place. Always go and have a little drink by the river while the kids play. Obviously it's a little better in summer but indoors is fantastic if you don't wanna brave the cold. Haven't eaten here yet but food looks amazing

Is lovely place . But there's new housing being built opposite on canal. Has spoilt the atmosphere. Inside could do with a deep clean . Cobwebs hanging above our table and around... does not make great dining . Toilets were not the cleanest

Really friendly country pub, nice walk along canal with residents from work then popped in for drink and a snack. Couldn't fault the service, quick, friendly and professional. Would recommend this place and will be visiting again.

Booked afternoon tea here for some friends. I was told the afternoon tea was a 'warm' selection and was intrigued. We were not disappointed! The food was amazing; the selection of items was presented beautifully on a sort of picnic bench platter, and included hot parsnip soup, which tasted amazing. This was accompanied by a battered fish goujon - each one was a really good size, chips, quiche, a black pudding in batter and a delicious cheese and tomato jam open tart with rocket. And then they brought out the scones, clotted cream and jam, fairy cakes, macaroons and cinder toffee. There was adaptations made for a friend with some food intolerances, but all of this was done with a smile. Honestly, the service was outstanding from James and Sam, which just made the visit so pleasurable. Would definitely recommend as an alternative to a full lunch or main meal. Been here a few times over the past 6 months. Always pleasant and helpful staff. Food and setting is great. Not the cheapest though but always enjoy visiting.

Fantastic meal, possibly the best pub meal I've had. Not the cheapest you'll get but excellent value for money. The steak and onion ale pie was full of tender meat. Staff are brilliant too. Thanks very much Saracens Head

Visited on a Sunday and had the beef roast dinner and the Camembert starter which both were absolutely delicious. Really enjoyed all of the food was too full for a puddingWhich I was gutted about as the puddings looked and sounded great too. Will be returning in the future.
