This is what passes for a lamb main course for Sunday lunch at The Barn at Moor Hall. My complaint about this minute main led to this judge-y email from General Manager Adam Wilkinson:Thank you for your email and for your feedback regarding your lunch in The Barn on Sunday. I am sorry that you felt the portion size of the main course was insufficient and that you were still hungry following your meal. I was a little surprised as it’s not something that has been raised previously as an issue, and usually the three course meal plus, snacks, amuse bouche, bread and an additional cheese course would be a sufficient amount of food. However I suppose not everyone has the same appetite.I will pass your feedback onto the team and I hope it wont deter you from returning to The Barn again in the future. My reply:That's the same response I got from one of the waiters. I have a healthy appetite and had a light breakfast Sunday morning but I'm not exactly a glutton. I thought the portions were small across all courses but I didn't expect such a small main lamb course for Sunday lunch and I didn't expect you to judge your customers rather than listen to their feedback.I'd say don't bother with the feedback and I won't bother returning.A more thoughtful and conciliatory reply would have stayed in my inbox. You, dear readers can reach your own conclusions about this Michelin-starred establishment.

This was one of the greatest food experiences we have had so far. Visited as a party of four, the staff treated us brilliantly, the food was exquisite, each course was prepared and presented beautifully and we thoroughly enjoyed all the complimentary extra courses. One of our party opted for the vegan menu which had also been given much thought and was absolutely delicious. To top off a brilliant evening, the final bill was so reasonable we decided to visit again the following evening. Thank you Moor Hall.

Incredible food, and as this place now has a Michelin Star, it still offers incredible value, especially with their lunch menu.Nice outside area which is great if you can catch it in the good weather.Staff were professional, yet informal, and being able to see the open kitchen fully was an added bonus.

We journeyed up to Lancashire to dine at the Barn at Moor Hall tonightWe arrived early and after walking around the beautiful grounds, we started out on the patio with drinks. I had the dandelion negroni. For dinner, we went with the a la carte option. I opted for the cured Cornish mackerel for the starter and the hake for my main.We were surprised and delighted to be presented a few amuse-bouche to kick off the meal. The spring pea velouté was my favourite but the coppa came a close second.I opted for the Sweet Cicely and Wye Valley Raspberry pannacotta for dessert which is inspired. From start to finish, the food, service, and drinks were 🔥. An amazing evening out which is completely worth the visit.

Roast beef was very good, but Yorkshire pudding was a bit tough, wasn't fresh from the oven. Everything else was spot on, including crispy roast potatoes.

Absolutely a must visit!!! Simply delicious food, which you don’t want to stop eating and enjoying from the moment you start! The atmosphere at the restaurant is really warm and welcoming, with great service in a beautiful building of classic bricks and wood British architecture with nice light and decoration.Since it opened about 4 years ago it has been one of the most preferred places we enjoy to visit, and year after year the location has kept growing, despite the challenges of the pandemic!A must visit if you are close by.Their big parent, The Moor Hall, which is located on the side, it’s also an absolute must visit!!! …Perhaps the best British restaurant I’ve personally experienced…

Amazing time at the barn. Service was top left feeling well looked after. Food was amazing, definitely best meal we have had in a while. Really chilled out relaxed atmosphere. Next time hope we can manage to stay over as well so can take more advantage of the wine menu.

Outstanding experience. We have visited Moor Hall previously for the tasting menu and were so impressed by the beautifully prepared, innovative food so we thought we'd try the more laid back experience of the Barn and wow what an amazing afternoon.Firstly the setting is beautiful as soon as you step on to the grounds there is just a sense of peace and tranquility and you just know you're going to have a great time.We were shown to our table in the gorgeous barn and ordered some exceptional cocktails while looking at the menu. The food was seriously good! A paired back selection, which personally I prefer with some real show stoppers. The beef tartare and cod with hen of the wood mushrooms was fantastic. Everything about the meal was top notch from the service, cocktails, complimentary snacks, food. We will definitely be back soon!

A world class experience from start to finish, great service, friendly welcoming and warm. The surrounds are gorgeous and the food was fantastic, definately an event meal and will go back for sure. Birthdays, celebrations etc its a real special treat.Every single thing we ordered was delicious - veggie options too were special and not tacked on like they often are.A must go for anyone that loves to taste subtle flavours, new things and the finest produce. WOW
