We dined as a group in early March and as a couple in April. First experience I would have said was a ‘good’ 4 stars - worth another visit, but our second visit was much better and definitely 5 stars. The main improvement for us was the more experienced staffing. In a place like this, the waiters/waitresses should be expected to describe and explain the dishes expertly. We didn’t find this on our first trip (the girls were lovely but very young and shy about explaining what we were eating!) whereas the waiters went above and beyond on our second visit. We really loved the food on both occasions and the intimate atmosphere. Really pleased to have this place on our doorstep but would suggest an a la carte option as I’m not sure locals won’t return time and time again for a tasting menu. Lovely experience and hope to return soon. Thanks!

It was our first time eating at Solo, and what a treat it was! We had a front row seat of the kitchen, watching Tim and his team prepare everything to the highest standard with exacting precision. My husband, who is discerning with his praise, and I both awarded the food 5*s. The service was also of the highest standard, David and Neil were both wonderful. It can only be a matter of time before this restaurant receives a Michelin star!

We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary in style. A friend recommended Sōlō and boy am I glad I listened. The food was out of this world. Each dish clearly planned and executed with skill and precision. The smells, the appearance and not forgetting the tastes. Such masterpieces created from humble ingredients. The ambiance was nice and relaxed. The staff were 1st rate and we will definitely be returning. Even if its to celebrate it being Thursday hahaha. We were even presented with a signed menu from Chef to help us with our Anniversary celebration. Such a lovely (and unexpected suprise)Big thanks to chef Tim Allen and his team. I'm sure you will be earning your very own Michelin Star soon.

Fantastic place. My wife and I went for the five course taster lunch and absolutely were not disappointed. The food is excellent, the staff are polite and attentive and the ambiance of the whole place is wonderful. It wont be long before this place is awarded a Michelin star. We'll definitely be returning.

I visited Solo last week as a treat from my son,we visited Moor Hall before Christmas, and so we were inclined to compare it with that experience.Yes Moor Hall has 2*, and a higher price tag but unfortunately we were quite disappointed with our visit to Solo.Yes,a 5 course taster menu, but we found the portions tiny and forgettable. We both came away hungry, not what you want at a cost of £100 each with drinks. The service was good and courses evenly spaced, may be we should have studied the menu better,as there is a limit on what you can do with salsify, Cauliflower and rhubarb.I wanted to give a great review of this new venture in Lancashire, but time will tell, and in its present form with one small taster menu, will customers return? Sorry,We will not.

Great tasting menu. Service excellent. Have to admit that there were a couple of courses I expected to be challenging (deer and trout) but I need not have feared, they were all brilliant. I would prefer an a la carte menu but for a new restaurant, setting up in the slipstream of a pandemic with staff difficult to obtain - my view would be that they are getting on and doing it. Can't wait to see how it develops

We went for the tasting menu. In general the food was ok. Really enjoyed the cod. Staff very attentive. Unfortunately some little things like the quality of the cutlery really lets down the overall experience which is a pity. Also, despite a significant makeover it still has the feel of a pub rather than a restaurant which again disappoints a little. On the plus side the staff are really attentive and friendly. Will visit again when the menu changes.

Great little place near Ormskirk, and well worth a visit. However, the car park is a little tight, so if you go, book early! The food - which is the important part - is excellent and borders on fine dining. However, we did the 3 course lunch - and although delicious - the portion size could have been better. One teaspoon quinnel of cauliflower puree and a tablespoon quinnel of pomme puree weren't quite enough on the main dish.As for value, for the 3 course lunch the price per head was £35, which isn't bad but also not fantastic value compared to some. That said the food was excellent and worth a try. The tasting menu seems better value.

This was a gorgeous place, the restaurant was quite quiet, beautiful tasting menu, staff were attentive and they catered very well for gluten free. Loved it, can’t wait to go back!
