Lovely place. Reasonably busy Wednesday evening without a booking and seated straight away. X food/drinks delicious and service with smiles. Had to go to reception to get cutlery, and 2 other tables around us had to ask for cutlery also, so that was the only point to make, but not an issue.

Had a great meal here today if you like good portions and tasty food give them a visit. They have a large menu with lots of choice with daily specials too, prices very reasonable.Lots of seating options inside and out, clean and tidy.Staff very attentive without being in your face. Can get busy but when we visited although very busy food was still very prompt.

Not sure why the place has such a high rating because we came out disappointed. Breakfast wasn't great. We drove quite far to have our meal there based on recommendations.. bacon and black pudding - like cardboard .. sausages dry, hard to cut into.. eggs well overcooked (and that's the easiest thing). I enjoyed the beans the most - and I don't like beans! Partner got lump of what tasted like soil in mouth (guessing could've been piece of burnt food). Maybe all that happened because we were on last minute for breakfast (11:50am) and should've just had lunch menu.. but looking at the pictures of other reviews - I cooked better meals in staff canteen ..Gave 3 stars as the surroundings looked good and staff - very nice

On arrival the car park was nearly full but once inside, there were plenty of tables available.Good choice of menu items and a good menu of lighter meals for smaller appetites. Also, an added specials menu.I ordered the Steak, Onions & Mushroom stack from the specials menu & wasn't disappointed. Good sized potion - Gravy boat, Vegetables & Creamy/Buttery Mash.Plenty of staff working so service was good and not to intrusive. All in all it was a nice, relaxing unhurried lunch.Well deserved five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We went here at approx 2pm on a weekday and the place was packed! That was a good sign. The staff were very friendly and attentive and seated us quickly. Our server was really pleasant and professional. There was a little bit of a wait for food but as it was so busy and the food was quite obviously made fresh it was no chore at all. I had the minted lamb pudding with peas, green beans, gravy and chips. The pudding was huge but the suet was very thin and not "claggy". The lamb was so tender and flavourful you could eat it with no teeth! The chips were massive, crispy and had absolutely zero grease on them and they tasted so good. Even the veg was very green and had plenty of seasoning on. My wife had the club sandwich from the light bites menu and she had to ask for half to be wrapped up for latter it was so substantial. We'll definitely be coming back. If White Lion staff read this, our server on the 3rd March ( I think we were table 42 near the mirror and model ship) was really exceptional.

Our first visit to The White Lion wasn't a disappointment. The food was served in a lovely clean dining area with friendly and professional staff. There is a good choice of food. We had the steak and ale pie and a 10 oz steak. The food is first class.

Visited for lunch. Car park nearly full and people starting to park on road. Roomier than it looked and still plenty of tables available inside, although we had a table booked. Good choice of menu items and a good menu of lighter meals for smaller appetites. Ordered steak and ale pie, if they can't get that right there's no hope for the rest of the menu no matter how extensive. No need to worry it's a proper pie not a casserole with a lid. Good size potion, lashings of gravy, crispy chips and nice peas. Other meal was 'petite' fish and chips, good size for smaller appetite. Delicious, nice crispy batter and chips. Plenty of staff working so service was good and not intrusive. All in all nice relaxing, unhurried lunch. Well deserved five stars
