Gaskells Fish And Chips in Wigan

£1 for a bit of gravy over chips lol n chips are like terrible

My local chippy. First class service from very friendly staff. The food is Wigan finest 😋.

Possibly the best fish and chips in the North West.

Turned up at 430,no food fish will be at least 20 minutes chips around the same, some staff was only just turned up and was told they only put the fryers on around 5 minutes before and have to wait for them to warm up. Most the people behind me walked way when they heard the waiting time.

Great food. best chippy ive been to in ages! The lad who served me was really fast (and fit :)) Will deffo be coming back if I'm ever in the area

Updated and down rated...I have been calling here for a straight four weekends. First week superb...second not as special...third average. Tonight 30th Oct 2021....the worst ever. Fish destroyed dry and tiny (microscopic)...chips hard and bland ..Consistent quality is paramount...sadly Gaskell's don't have it.Take your chance because Wigan really has not one stand out chippy...You might be lucky...then you might not...I however will not be returning.

There was only a few people in the queue but it took about 45 Min to get served. Absolutely unbelievable wait.No fish ready no chips ready - staff who really couldn't care less and then kept serving their croneys through the back door.Very disappointed, we used to go here all the time but time for a change.

No other English chippy is worthy. This place has the finest Fish, chips & curry you could imagine! The only English chippy worth considering if your in the area 👍 If you are not in the area, its well worth the travel!

Go there now and again can be alright/quite good quality. Portions are small - that's just the owners/management being greedy and getting away with it with most people. Have had rubbish at odd times but overall above average quality food but small portions are rubbish for the amount you get - perhaps they're being naive about them aswell. They might fill a baby but that's about it.

My experience was wonderful, Both myself and the wife had fish and chips and the children had sausage and chips. Nice to see a real English chippy flourishing. The size of the servings where excellent, staff as helpful as you need them to be. portion sizes seem to be dwindling whilst the price goes up. Chips can be good one day but bad the next time, depends on who's cooking i guess. Used to love come here.
