Onje in Wigan

Food excellent, service excellent shame the lady with glases stuck her finger in my soup to check the temperature. I work in hospitality A taster spoon would have been better. Visited 19/03/22

Giving this place a 5 star primarily for the dessert, but also for the potential as it’s great to see a place like this in Wigan.The starter of pigeon was cooked well and the pear, fig and Gorgonzola went well with it. The salmon risotto was a little under seasoned and the egg was a bit watery. Salt and pepper comes in little packets - prefer it to be in grinders which most places have reverted to now.The venison main was cooked well, with gorgeous Parmesan mash. The flat iron steak was beautifully cooked, and the fries were crisp and fresh - this too was a little under seasoned, and the pepper sauce was unfortunately a bit unpleasant. The desserts were to die for though!Service was great, staff were lovely. Would recommend trying this place.

This restaurant is a personal favourite of ours.The service is friendly and prompt and the food is amazing.It’s bring your own beer with no corkage fee so no more having to drink fizzy lager (my preference, but you can bring your own fizzy lager if you want to🍻)Andy is a wizard in the kitchen and his menu is really imaginative with so many flavours. High quality ingredients make distinctive, well balanced flavours. The courses are a little more expensive than other places, but the quality is far far higher. The bring your beer policy makes the overall cost the same as inferior restaurants, but with a much better experience.Becky is so welcoming its like coming home to your family but with way better food.Give it a go, it’s No1 for a reason

My first visit, and safe to say, it won't be my last.A cracking town centre eatery. My girlfriend and I had the Sunday roast, which came with a choice of either chicken, or beef brisket. I had the chicken, and it was superb, lovely and tender. My girlfriend had the beef, and it was cooked to melt in the mouth perfection.Both the starter and dessert were of the same high quality, and added to the relaxed atmosphere, and this was a superb treat for me, and the perfect pick me up, after a period of illness.Keep up the good work.

This was our 1st time at this little restaurant with a party celebrating a friends milestone birthday and have to say it was great. Food and service were spot on and I will definitely go again. Food was hot and perfectly presented. I cant remember a time when I have ever eaten all my meal at a restaurant ....but I did at Black Pepper. Well done guys

This place has seriously gone down hill. No customer service very flat and no interaction. Meals felt like small portions heated frozen meals, place filled with smoke from kitchen. No difference in taste only soya sauce taste. Good job I took my own wine their selection is poor and of cheap quality not worth considering £20.00 a bottle. Still hungry when finished crumble pie the crumble wasn't cooked. Won't be going back. Avoid this 0lace. Disappointing.

First time that we have been to the Black pepper and we will be back. The food was excellent, plus the staff are really friendly. From start to finish it was a very good experience for all of us and good value for money.

Fabulous meal today....Sunday menu. Me roast beef, melt in your mouth and hubby fish of the day....both excellent. Loved the tempura prawn starter. Service was super, lovely welcoming staff. We will be back. Thank you
