It's a pity you can't 'award' no star's as the service was atrocious. My Wife and I booked a table for 7:30 last night. The waiters were very young with one waiter wearing black tracksuit bottoms and regularly serving food with his thumb inside the bowl. My Wife's first drink was served 10 minutes after mine. We waited 55 minutes for the starter to be served. Each drink was taking 15 minutes to be served and we had to remind them that we had ordered each time. With no sign of our main course being served we left after one and a half hours. There didn't seem to be anybody in authority and no organisation. When we stated we were leaving all the staff just stood staring blankly. No apology, no explanation.... Nothing! Buying a takeaway from next door and eating it in our car would have been a far more enjoyable experience than dining at Amara.

Ordered food waited 1hr for it plated are food out went too dip r bread in the hummus and came across a black hair in it. It put us completely off r whole meal we rang too have music played down the phone too us. We then rang back and got told they would be back with a refund. Another hour went by so we rang too see what was going on. For a girl too laugh down the phone at us and put the phone down. Absolutely disgusting dirty and vile.

Honest and genuine review:We really wanted this to be a good experience of us supporting a local restaurant but unfortunately it was very disappointing. Not due to the two young servers, who tried their best, or the brightly lit space, uncomfortable chairs, or even the food! The problem was the owners/management who didn't make any attempt to connect with their restaurant customers and didn't have the skills or understanding to notice delays, empty glasses or lack or music. Instead they relyed on their young under-trained staff to manage the front of house experience of the customers. It didn't work. After placing our order we waited 30 minutes for three (cold) starters, which were very tasty. Then, a lengthy wait for our main courses and one didn't arrive, they'd forgotten it!We had to leave the table to go and ask for more drinks at the bar.Throughout the night the two young servers seemed pretty busy bringing food, taking plates and drinks to the 4 or 5 tables whilst the owners/management (4 of them) weren't present at all. Perhaps their primary focus is on the take away business which is fine, but why have a restaurant if you have no interest or experience in hospitality? It's a real shame because with their current lack of vision this business might not last, despite their nice food.

Food was lovely however service was poor tonight. I think its because they are busy doing takeaway orders. Staff busy doing orders and lost sight of the fact that customers were in the restaurant . Nobody checked did we need more drinks, was food okay etc. Asked for baklava after about 20 minutes it still had not arrived. On checking we were told the person who served it had taken a delivery out. Customers eating in should take priority . Focus on either restaurant or takeaways but you can't do both well.

Food leaked and cold, restaurant offered to collect our food, reheat and redeliver. This is a huge NO NO... I have never received food in worse condition than this. Just eat were helpful! Restaurant useless! Here's our 9.50 starter πŸ˜”

It's been a while since we last visited and I don't know why! The food is of a consistent high standard, cooked to perfection over hot coals and the accompanying rice and salad add to the experience. The staff are pleasant and I think my only gripe would be the loos, they really could do with a makeover xx
