Basset Hound in Wirral

Lovely pub, good service, decent Sunday roast at a good price. Served quickly and food was quick to the table. Paid £50 for 4 Sunday roasts and a small bowl of mashed potato for my baby granddaughter.

Great lunch here today. Fish was easily large enough to satisfy me, and the mushy peas were the best I've had in a long time - very tasty and (more important) not dry.The other half had the open chicken BLT, which she thought was filling and tasty.Staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was cheerful.Would recommend this pub for a lunch any day.

Been to the Basset Hound once a wk for the past 3 wks the staff who serve are really lovely ,the food is excellent cooked to perfection!!,and you don't wait too long for your order the place itself is very clean and comfortable well worth a visit we have been going in the afternoon there is always plenty of people dining but we have always managed to get a table the prices are very reasonable also

Good service young waitress was very nice. Family enjoyed chicken roast however the lamb was exceptionally fatty . All in everyone was relaxed and enjoyed their meals.

Sunday lunch, no booking walked straight in found a table in the bar, served very quick and efficiently. Ordered 2 sirloin roads served pink, well that's what it said on the menu. Nothing pink about it, dark brown soaked in gravy. But tasty. Abit shocked at £1.79 for a side of cauliflower cheese that was put on the plate literally one small floret of cauliflower. The search goes on for a decent PINK roast.

The lad that served us was great, how ever the rest of the service was slow and the food was mediocre. Steak was chewy and the surf and turf, advertised as king prawns, looked like ordinary frozen prawns. Disappointed!

Lovely meal once again. Good size portions as well. The waitresses were polite and attentive. 3 starters, 3 mains, 4 pints, 1 bottle of red wine and a bottle of prosecco all for just over £100. Quite reasonable in my mind.

Lovely here . We been a few times and always made to feel welcome. Food was lovely. Had a laugh with the chef and bar staff about pigs in blankets. Such a lovely relaxing place to go out. Was very busy when we went . But staff were still very attentive to us.

Lovely pub, good food and staff and dog friendly too.

1st time eating here and we were really impressed. Good sized portions and really tasty meals. Also likes being able to take our dog into the pub.
