re-posting this as the review seems to have disappeared for some reason. Refers to 3yrs ago. I haven't been back since (as explained below):Despite very tasty beer with lots of choice in a nice setting, unfortunately i found the attitide of the staff so poor that i wouldn't return. I can see others have reviewed this place well and commented on friendly staff but this wasnt my experience. Shame as i would have liked to settle in for a few more.

I was at the Tap with a friend who has a toddler so can't get out often for a drink these days. Being a huge dog lover I think it's great that the bar is very dog-friendly - it's just lovely to see people with their best friends in there. I have to admit to being a bit puzzled by the 'micro-brewery' equipment behind the glass pane to the left of the bar - it always looks the same to me & seems like an exhibit at a museum, frozen in time. A great feature is the bar's blackboard, listing what beers are available on the day you visit - it gives the place a dynamic feeling, & you a sense that whenever you visit there'll be a fresh selection of beers waiting for you to enjoy. I'm afraid that dynamism doesn't come cheap, though! Expect to be typically paying £6 or more a pint, & around £3 each for packs of spicy pretzels & other bar snacks...which are very nice, but so they damned well should be at that price! Unless you're lucky enough to be very well off (which I'm not!) for me it's a place to visit occasionally, & when you do don't take too long counting the cost otherwise you'll not enjoy it!

Bar was full of barking dogs. Beer pricey, coffee tasted nice but was cold, £3.00 a cup, over the top.

Nice bar, great selection of beers, friendly staff and atmosphere

Great little find. Beers were well received especially the strawberry beer! Mmm mm. May need another visit soon

·

Nice relaxed place for a beer and the staff know what they're talking about. Bit pricey but that's to be expected. Good selection of ales.

·

Friendly service and a chilled out atmosphere. Dog friendly and a great choice of beers and cider.

·

Fantastic selection of draft beers, pleasant seating inside and out (covered). Helpful and knowledgeable barman offers "tasters" before coosing your beer. Good coffee also!

Great little place with a selection of 15 taps of craft beers as well as some good Gins and numerous other drinks. Nice that you can see the tapped barrels through a window. Have decided that’s the way I’m going to choose my drink. Easy for me as I like anything really dark. Nice, on trend, simple decor. Seems very popular. Staff very helpful and friendly.

There is a slight irony that I visited here and tried a couple of excellent Gins, rather than a sample of their range of 15 craft beers that they have on tap, I'll be coming back later to sample some. Its a really nice, clean, laid back place, the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their stock. You can see into the "Cellar' though a window that lets you see all of the Barrels and their floats etc.If thats not enough of a selection of Ales next door just happens to be the Mother Ship "HomeBrew Bottle Shop" that has well over 100 real ale and craft beers in stock (and some cider, wine and spirits) more about this another time. For those who like Gin, I sampled the "Turncoat Cascade Gin" & a "Ableforth's Bathwater Gin" both escorted by FeverTree Tonic.
