Plenty of people drinking there that seemed to be enjoying themselves, and a friendly atmosphere. Sport TV showing, dogs welcome and dog biscuits free for them. A good selection of drinks behind the bar.But not a very clean place, dirty glasses and i think it was the chef that delivered some meals to the table in an extremely dirty black chef's outfit. The food looked nice but not a place I would visit often and definitely wouldn't eat there.

Nice pub, but the use of the word ‘nice’ ends there. Beware to food, it is sh!t. My daughter in Law had the sharer as her meal, looked like ALL deep fried at the same time and in old filthy oil too. Other meals (waited 55 minutes for service and we were the only people eating) steak pudding, arriving 5 minutes after the other meals, ok but the chips very poor and cold, chicken wrap was cut up deep fried breaded chicken pieces cut up chips again very poor and cold the final meal passable, just.Make the chef smarten up, even his clothes looked dirty, better still replace him. Mein Host, was friendly and keen, but needs support. To summarise, we left more than we ateWill NEVER return…..

Intended eating at Owd Nels. It was shambolic so headed home. Pulled in to Gt Eccleston. White bull was packed and beer garden closed so went over to the black bull. Our two dogs were welcomed. Extremely helpful and friendly staff on duty. Ordered food. Chilli chicken wrap, burritos, 2club sandwiches. Absolutely beautiful. Could not fault the food, the service or the venue. Well worth the money. All in came to under £40. Will definitely be visiting again

The pub is dirty..filthy toilets broken toilet seats wet paper rolls to dry your hands toilet paper strewn all over the floor, its disgusting stink of sewage which seeps into the lounge no.managment to be seen on the premises. Filthy glasses and no cleaning generally unkempt Totally disgusting x

Called in for food as house hunting in the area. Very warm welcome from the staff. Big open plan pub but yet cosy.Drinks cold and refreshing and food hot and tasty, couldn't ask for more.

Stopped off in this lovely little village & went for lunch here. The staff member was very welcoming to us & helpful. They had a board with specials on along with a menu.Although the pub was empty of people we really enjoyed our lunch as the food was delicious and was very good value for what we had. Do try the cheese nachos as gorgeous, loads of cheese & salsa sauce.Chicken wraps were delicious as lots of chicken in them and the chips were really good.Credit to the pub.

Just moved up this way and like to call in for a pint at the weekends! Very dog friendly and the Staff are very obliging, not had a meal yet but they do look very good. Nice choice beers. My only criticism is the beer garden at the rear of the pub could do with some tidying up and some grass cutting and nice plant pots around would make it more respectable and if it was I would have given full marks.
