We had used the crown and anchor last night for our football end of presentation do, we had it all pre booked for outside, with an amazing buffet for 30 of us, staff were constantly at our tables asking if we needed more drinks and food, service was brilliant. Drinks were reasonably priced with plenty of shots on offer!!DJ came in at 9, was a great atmosphere in there, highly recommend this place. We will definitely be going back for a few more nights out

Nice pub with very friendly helpful staff. Courtyard terrace very pleasant to sit out on a sunny day. Bank Holiday Friday for the jubilee so there was free face painting for the kids which entertained our son. Very decent, fresh fish and chips for lunch too. Plus they brought our a water bowl for our dog 🐕

Had a nice family Sunday lunch. They had a basic pub food menu. Nut roast vegetarian option. Burger and chips. Half chicken and seasonal vegetables which was well priced at 10.95. Massive portion for me though. Clean, good service. Meal came fairly quickly. They have a nice deck area at the back with a river frontage.

We are regulars to the crown and anchor so was expecting good things for Mother’s Day unfortunately it couldn’t have been any worse.Clearly busy, which was expected we waited for our table to be ready, a 5.30pm booking. Lots of things unavailable on the menu, again we expected this with a later booking. The colleagues working were something else, we was seated no ‘hello’ ‘how are you’ no pleasantries, was asked for our drink order eventually, no ‘thank you’ just the colleague walking off after taking the order. The drinks arrived quick but had to ask for the ‘free Prosecco for mums’ that was offer - which arrived warm and half a glass - no issue, free after all.No sides left so ordered 5 chicken roast and 1 lamb,They arrived after a long wait - meat, gravy and burnt freezing Yorkshire on the plate, no veg and no cutley, we waited 10 minutes for some cutlery (asking multiple times) by this time the gravy and meat were also stone cold. Lamb tough and over cooked. When the veg arrived we told them about the burnt greasy Yorkshires, their answer was they knew they were burnt and cold but could put them in the microwave?During the time waiting it was obvious other meals had been sent back to the kitchen as we heard the floor colleagues and the kitchen colleagues arguing and moaning about customers in front of guests and then the bar staff eating the food that had been sent back infront of people. We asked to speak to the supervisor who was actually the rude person who seated us, he told us he knew everything was unacceptable but it wasn’t his fault he had had a bad day and he told his boss not to take so many bookings at the beginning of the week. He also said he didn’t have time to speak to us and walked off. When asked to speak to the manager he said no she was busy that she had worked extra hours today. After this conversation he then went over to his colleague who were all taking the mick out of our complaint, loudly for everyone to hear, I think this was by far the most unprofessional service I have ever experienced in any type of setting.I work in a high pressure retail environment myself and on my key trading times im there until the end to ensure a smooth operation and customer satisfaction and I certainly would not think it was exceptable for my staff to be taking the mick out of a customers complaint especially on the floor in front of people. We addressed this with the supervisor as we was leaving to which his reply was they had all had a long day.It was truly a disaster from start to finish. The crown and Anchor have lost some loyal customers from tonight. We ended up not paying for the meal as it was only the kids who actually ate some of the food.

The pub is in a beautiful setting and we were excited about having a celebration lunch there. When our food hadn’t arrived after nearly 2 hours, although the people one ahead of us in the queue had nearly finished theirs, we decided to check that the order had gone through. Our query was treated very aggressively by the woman in charge that day. Our food wasn’t even being prepared yet but my daughter felt too intimidated to insist on our money back - they were obviously prepared to have a big public scene and we had small children who had been waiting patiently for food. We left and had a much nicer meal elsewhere where the staff are courteous and efficient, but lost a great deal of money. The two stars are for the pretty location. I will never go there again.

Really nicely decorated and absolutely massive inside. A really nice covered terrace overlooking the river. The staff are really happy and helpful, the food is good and the choice of drinks good too. Will definitely eat and drink here again.

Really nice location for a pub as it backs out on to the river. Prices are air resonable

Food was amazing, staff helpful and friendly, highly recommend. Lunchtime visit but didn’t expect such large portions, we had the ploughman’s and bruschetta which was more than enough to share 👍
