My wife and I stayed at the Norfolk Arms as a stop on our hike along the South Downs Way. A relatively brief taxi ride away from Houghton + Amberley, its location in Arundel was right in the thick of things, and we could even see part of the castle from our room!Breakfast was very good, reception was efficient and informative, and the bed was comfy after a long day of hiking. Our room had a bath but no shower; that's not on the hotel, that's on us for not paying attention to the details, it said that in the fine print.

It's a great old Inn, right in the middle of town. A large but tricky car park at the rear, which has some covered spaces. Architecturally the main stone staircase is a must see. There is a mixture of rooms from contemporary to quirky and everything in between. Some of the smaller rooms on the top floor only have an ensuite bath. I would recommend this hotel.

Nice pub, lovely 'secret garden' area. We were given the menu when we booked, which listed burgers and pizza and the like. However, the actual menu was a Sunday one, mostly roasts, plus fish and chips and risotto, which we were a bit annoyed about. All was good, apart from the risotto, which was cold and small - more like a starter. Odd, as all the other dishes were ample. I had a chocolate brownie to fill the gap left by the pathetic risotto, and that was actually delicious. Staff were great.Update: went again, but ate inside this time. Food was again a bit variable - generous portions apart from the quiche and chips which was half the size of everything else. Still, all pretty tasty. However, this time the service was quite poor. It took about 40 minutes to get our first drink on the table and an hour and a quarter before food arrived. Shame, but hard to recommend eating here on this experience.

None too clean in some public areas, reception staff not too aware how the booking/payment system works. No lift service, carry your own baggage to 3rd floor. Additional £5 charge for parking. Place appears to be drab and dismal, bedrooms smaller than antcipated. Needs paintwork doing generally, clean up would improve the place. Most disappointing.

We had our wedding at The Norfolk Arms Hotel in Arundel on the 18th of December 2021. From the very beginning Kate and the team were so accommodating and we felt at ease from the outset, nothing was too much trouble. Communication throughout the whole process was brilliant, they answered every question we had and helped us create our wedding package based on our ideas and budget. The wedding day went perfectly, Kate and all the staff did an amazing job, the venue looked beautiful, as it was Christmas it was already decorated and was so cosy. The food was delicious and very well presented, many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed it! We had the most perfect day and we cannot thank Kate and the team enough!Do not hesitate to book this venue for your special day, you won't regret it!Lauren and Shane

The food here is excellent- really well cooked and delicious. Waiting staff and kitchen staff work hard to ensure you have a lovely experience.Stayed in a cosy double with low ceiling. If you're over 6' you won't be able to stand up in these rooms. Otherwise it was well furnished, cleaned to an acceptable standard, lovely and quiet at night and quite comfortable.Parking on road outside not a problem.Arundel a lovely place to visit and so close to the S downs and coast so an excellent base. The loss of one star is reflective of the cleaning and mattress quality but overall I would thoroughly recommend a stay here and make sure you book dinner and breakfast - the kitchen staff really know what they're doing and you are guaranteed a great meal.Would stay again. Look out for special offers on SE and booking websites - very good value for money.

Nice enough hotel. We were fortunate to have got the honeymoon suite for a night. Room was lovely, little bit of TLC required in places but lovely neither the less.. Staff are very professional... The Hotel could get a lick of paint here or there but I suppose covid has crippled the budget for these size buildings. Would defo return if we were in the area again...

Great selection of craft beers in the tap room. Good service. It had a lovely atmosphere (quiet and relaxing, during the day at least). The food was decent too.
