Royals Fish & Chip Shop in Arun

Usually good, not this time. There was one delivery driver just leaving as I walked in. No other customers in the shop. The two staff serving seemed more interested in talking to each other than anything else and one of them had to check with the other one what my order was less than a minute after I ordered. The large portion of chips was not very generous.

Can't believe the service we were given tonight by the young lad in there was so rude, we have always used the Royal chip shop, we will think again before using them,Even the fish and chips we had was not the best ,We ordered our food off their Web site and still had to wait an extra 20mins

Ordered a small order (cod, haddock, chips) online and website said ready at 6pm. At 6:30 pm I still had no food. Waited in the shop seeing walk-in customer after customer order and get food within seconds. They know I'm waiting, so no reasonable reason for the delay.

They've become really expensive and slow to serve. £3 for small chips! You'd think with the extra money they're taking in they'd move over to recyclable packaging... But they're still using non-recyclable polystyrene boxes as if it's still the 1990s. Come on, get with it.

Ordered on the website to collect. Tried to charge me an extra £2 because the till prices changed. Chips were still cold, not cooked at all literally spat it out still cold in the middle, battered sausages are cold, not sure if they were even cook right either, only good but was the burger and battered Mars bars

Ordered LG cod, (overcooked and dry) 2 spring rolls (cold in the middle) sausage and sausage in batterand 1 fish cake ( below average) chips OK . There was no one in the shop when I walked in ,order taken 20 mins later I got mine, after 5 people came in and got served before me (not pre Ordered food) , , will not be going there again , 80% of the food went in the dustbin ,

Best rock & chips fish a decent size cooked beautifully ,service good and friendly ..fell in love with fish again after many disappointing visits to other fish and chips 🐟🐟

Not very good. Ordered a medium cod which was more like a small fish steak and the batter was flat with no crunch. Battered sausage not to bad. Curry sauce was more a slurry then a sauce. But the chips were great.

Read the reviews and assumed that we would be getting a decent meal! Wrong!! Early on a Saturday evening (6pm ish) seemed like a good option to get decent fresh chips. We placed an order for chicken nuggets and chips, chips and fish & chips. Was a bit surprised to have to go and find cash to pay for the meal. After a bit of a wait (35 mins) we were given the food. Straight away we could smell a problem. We had decided to eat on the beach but in the car all we could smell was rancid oil. The nuggets were edible. Nothing to note just standard ok nuggets. The fish was another matter. Very greasy . The fish itself was tasteless. Batter wasn't dreadful but the oil on it tasted old. The big problem was the chips. You can forgive so so food as long as the chips were good. These were not! They smelt awful. The oil definitely needed changing. The chips were rock hard, covered in bits from the oil, simply tasted dreadful. Never seen my teens throw chips away before! I ate 2 chips then gave up. A couple walking past saw my daughter getting upset and asked if we'd gone to Royals? When we said yes they shook their heads and told us we should have tried a different place. You'll see from my reviews that I'm honest and not into simply moaning for the sake of it. We were really disappointed not to be able to support a local business. There is no excuse to make dreadful chips. Clean oil would go along way to help. They have a captive market at the moment and if they want to keep customers they'll need to up their game.

I haven't had fish & chips for nearly 2 years. It was a real highlight on a rainy afternoon, eaten in the car with 3 dogs looking on ,patiently- lovely. I would definitely go there again.
