St. Mary's Gate Inn in Arun

The bar area, the food and the friendly welcome are without question 5/5. The reason I only rated St Mary's Gate 3/5 was because of the dire standard of their B&B rooms. To use the word dated and tired would be an understatement. Shabby and dissapoiting would be more apt. We paid £120 for the night which was way over priced for what was offered. Carpet was worn and grubby, the light was hanging down from the ceiling, although I'm sure the cobwebs provided some added strengthening. The mattress was a torture instrument and we had the worst night's sleep, every time you turned over the creeking was enough to wake the whole building. Went to run a bath in the morning to try to ease the back pain from the mattress and the water literally came out in a dribble. So a shower using the 1.5 inch wide shower head (water pressure would probably not support anything more substantial ) was the only option.So if your looking for a good meal, great service in a cosy pub this is the place to go in Arundel.If you're looking to stay the night be warned.

Probably the best pub in the village with the biggest beer selection and atmosphere.

Fairly average pub at the top of the town. Small outside space but not especially appealing

Here's a very well kept pub with pleasant staff and (as it was quiz night) a decent group of customers who were presumably locals/regulars that made for a good atmosphere. My fixation with what I call 'decent ale' is the only problem. Three ales on tap in a pub is a great thing and all three were in very decent condition so, I can't complain but overall Badger beers aren't exciting. If it's possible, get a guest ale in and this is a much more interesting evening.

We have lunched here several times recently and have enjoyed really good, sensibly priced food and excellent, friendly service from Carol. We're looking forward to our next visit!

Went here for an evening meal, four adults, lovely pub next to the Cathedral. Good choices on the menu and specials board, but sadly some of the starters and mains were sold out. Understandable these days with Covid causing disruption to peoples lives, and so they are probably limiting their ordering at this time. We made our choices from what remained of the menu and were not disappointed, food was very good, staff were excellent, would go there again.

Food was awful. Our order took too long and it was overcooked, dry and tasteless. Chicken burger was like eating cardboard! A real shame because its a lovely pub. If you want good food find somewhere else

One of the more 'locals' pubs of Arundel, with a laid-back feel and friendly staff. Reasonable selection of beers and ales. Haven't had food here but it looks good. Dog friendly, as well.

A really lovely pub. We stayed in one of the rooms at the back of the courtyard. The breakfast here is excellent and plenty too.All the staff we met are very nice and helpful. We will definitely be coming back here.

Comfortable family room, although a little small with no chairs and only 1 stool. Small TV but a good ensuite bathroom with a bath/shower. Kettle with biscuits and tea/coffee . Hair dryer & iron provided within the room. The room is located off the car parking with steps up to the pub entrance. Good cooked breakfast with basic cereals & yogurts served between 9 and 10am only. Great quiet location next to the Catholic cathedral & castle.
