The South Downs in Arun

4 of us came for dinner last night: Lovely venue, superb staff. The food was good but no wow factor. If you don’t drink wine or if price is not an issue then it’s worth a visit but the price of the wine is extortionate. I expect a £15 mark up on supermarket or online prices but I suspect it is at least double that here. Only 2 white wines under £50 / bottle I just do not think is customer friendly. For that reason I won’t return.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at The Pig, which I can’t praise highly enough. Every member of staff was super friendly, whilst being professional, and went out of their way to be helpful. It is a very efficient, well run establishment in a gorgeous rural setting. Dinner was delicious, served by attentive staff who never got anything wrong and never had to be reminded of anything. Breakfast was equally good. The buffet was full, which my husband enjoyed and I chose a breakfast of beautifully cooked poached eggs and bacon with toast. We stayed in Gracie’s Shed, which just made me smile (Gracie, apparently, was a much loved horse, now no longer with us). Everything was spotlessly clean, no complaints at all and I would recommend if you want a peaceful, comfortable, different kind of break away.

The Pig is excellent. We had a no so fabulous experience in another pig and the managment kindly offered for us to come back closer to home and I am glad we did. The food was fantastic and the service warm. A lovely place for a special occasion lunch or just because you can. We also had non alcohol champagne which as a non drinker was a missive plus few places do it and it’s a shame. Well done the Pig

Food was excellent, went for our anniversary lunch. greeted by all the staff with " happy anniversary " made us feel quite special. First time of visiting, and now actually prefer here to the pig in Brockenhurst, (dining room was much lighter and has a better view) though cost wise it can be expensive, you do get what you pay for,perfectly cooked, well presented food and served by the ever smiling staff ( never saw one without a smile . Will most certainly be returning

Just brilliant. Birthday meal. Already packed at 6pm. Beautiful surroundings, fantastic food, friendly and knowledgeable service with just the right amount of attention and unobtrusive. I'll definitely be going back if I can get a booking!

The venue is beautiful, the staff were professional and welcoming. Our server was so lovely and extremely knowledgeable about her selection for the wine.The menu would not appeal to those of a fussy palate but my meal impressed.We were seated for our meal but we asked if we were able to take a few moments to sit in the lounge areas to enjoy our Brighton Gins, which we were able to do, not feeling pressured to rush back to our table.For my first experience of this venue I was extremely impressed.

Stayed for 2 nights. Room was quiet, super comfortable, huge hot shower, big bed, coffee machine, wardrobe for unpacking clothes, umbrellas outside every room, and newspaper orders each day. Grounds are well maintained, as its a new hotel/ restaurant it needs more time for restaurant kitchen garden to flourish. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good although price seems high you can eat your fill, lots of breakfast options. Dinner was brilliant as you'd expect at Pig. Had issue with corked wine, waiter replaced it without any issues or hesitation.

Gorgeous country setting. Very nicely styled and the staff are nice and friendly. Everything is done to a high standard, but not at all stuffy. Delicious food, locally sourced. Extensive wine list. Loved the restaurant, a real treat. Hope to get to try the hotel sometime, as comes highly recommended.

Outstanding place for a reunion party. Hotel staff are so charming and helpful at all times. Little things carefully thought out by them in advance made an enormous difference - like putting our menu choices made in advance, on the name tags on our napkins, and having champagne on trays ready when we arrived. The whole attitude of the place really makes it such a special place to stay, and we could not recommend it more highly.

Following a very nice visit to the Pig restaurant in the new forest, we was presently surprised to find a new one opening just around the corner from us. The pig in the south down. We'll the setting is amazing, lovely building and grounds, and the restaurant is the right balance between special and relaxed. The menu was big enough to be interesting with something to tickle anyone's taste buds, but not to large as to be overwhelming so you don't know what to pick. I had the tomahawk pork chop, and can honestly say it's got to be the best pork chop I'd ever eaten. It was a little be black in places, and worried that it was over cooked, but it was perfect! And hands down better then the one I'd had in the new forest (not a tomahawk mind you). All supporting dishes where very tasty without stealing the show, and the wife's pigeon was also superb, but if you every get the chance get the tomahawk, it's certainly one will remember. Highly recommended restaurant and we will be returning as soon as possible.
