Dobbies Garden World Restaurant in Ashford

Only saw three members of staff, service was slow, prices were extortionate, menu very limited, food on show looked like it had been there too long. The soup was tasteless and didn’t look pleasant (£7.40 for the soup and wanted to charge over £2 for a small bottle of water!) Would suggest visiting Byrbook Barn which isn’t too far away or one of the food outlets on the same complex.

7 of us had a cream tea at Dobbies, cannot fault this, plenty of choice, I forgot to order a lactose free cream tea, and our waitress bent over backwards to get alternatives. I would highly recommend their cream teas what a bargain only £10 per person.

Takes over 30 minutes to serve a bowl of chips? That we’re already cooked and waiting to be served? And then when I asked where they were the workers asked “can someone put on some chips please” implying that they forgot.Waste of time.Chips were then disgusting.

Extremely rude staff in the coffee shop… £7.50 for a sandwich and £3.00 for a very weak coffee. I would recommend going to a local pub and having a meal out for the same price. What a ripoff!!!

Well… it’s the day after Boxing Day yet no Christmas spirit was in the air. Nobody greeted us. Nobody on the shop floor said hello, let alone anything else. Nobody was at the information desk and when somebody did turn up, they were a bit offish as though we were an inconvenience. Shame, as we were there to spend some money! Seemed like the sale was a bit hit and miss, as it wasn’t clear what was and what was not in the sale, hence we went to the information desk yet the bits we did buy weren’t marked up as being in the sale yet it transpires they were! Even the man at the check out desk didn’t say hello or ask us if we found everything we wanted, which we didn’t but we’d switched off by then anyway…. If anybody really cared! Thankfully we run our own shop in a VERY different way, actually caring about our customers and give the best service we possibly can. Long live the independent shops, long live Headcorn Hardware! Restaurant rubbish. 40 minute wait with 3 people working . Lost the order , finally got food. Cold, burnt and dry disappointing . Not even busy, don't even know how they manage when/if they get more people in. Wouldn't recommend at all, such a shame as the actual garden centre is lovely.

What a complete shambles !! Long queue. Just 2 members of staff serving . Once eventually at front of queue to order our drinks we are told there are no large cups .......Cutlery and condiments counter large square holes visible with plates confidently placed over them and a large box to assist.Not nice at all ...........

Fancy a bacon sandwich at the Cafe? Don’t both, it will be quicker to breed your own pig, bake your own loaf and do it yourself.To say the service is slow would be an understatement . Bearing in mind the food is cooked and in a warmer when you arrive, we at this moment in time have been waiting close to 1 hr for 2 bacon sarnies.

Have been visiting Dobbies for a few years but after today, it will sadly be the last time. Spent at least 40 minutes in the queue at the restaurant waiting to make an order for 2, there were no trays, staff were rude or having their own conversations and then to top it off when paying I was told "if the queue is too long and you don't have time to wait then go elsewhere" "I don't understand why people wait and then moan". A little taken aback and like a fool I spent £17 for the privilege of this experience. If I hadn't waited so long I would have downed my tray and left. Every table had dirty plates etc on them with no attempt from staff to clear away. Absolutely disgraceful. If you're short staffed and struggling, then close the queue!! Beyond disappointed at the service and food I received.

Went to Dobbies to meet friends in the cafeteria. There was a long queue for food and what looked like a shorter queue for hot drinks. My two friends and I are all over 70 and as one of us was unable to stand for a long period he went to find a table. My other friend and I joined the hot drinks queue. I suddenly heard this voice booming out “You’ve pushed in the queue!” when I turned round it was a member of the kitchen staff shouting at me and my friend. I told her that we hadn’t pushed in we thought that there were two separate queues! Not only was she rude and disrespectful in talking to customers in that way, she proceeded to discuss it with everyone else standing in the queue, which was very embarrassing.We visit Dobbies quite often and the cafeteria has been going down in my estimation for a long time. The service is slow, there is no organisation, limited staff and if you buy food it is usually cold by the time you have queued up to pay. Today was the last straw and the last time we will be going to Dobbies. They need to get their act together and sort the staff out. My friend did speak to the Manager before we left, but we didn’t hang around to find out what the outcome was.
