The Secret Pantry in Ashford

What a gem. The whole restaurant had been booked out for my grandmother's 90th birthday afternoon tea party and it was perfect. The ladies outdid themselves. A beautiful spread and nothing was too much trouble.Will definitely be visiting again

Tea is served in a lovely miss match of proper china tea pots, cups, saucers and plates and the cakes are all baked on premises, -carrot is yummy. Nice relaxed, gentle atmosphere with helpful happy staff.

Food was good, however staff were very uninterested. Especially the waitress with the HUGE eyebrows and very dirty shirt.We also asked for a beef and tomato baguette, as a member of our group has intollerances to onion and similar. Apparently they couldn't do this, even though there was tomato in the side salad! When asked, why they couldn't just put the tomato in the baguette, they said they didn't understand what we meant by beef and tomato. Not sure how we could have made that easier to understand...

Food was fine but the service needs some improvement. My poached egg was underdone. I had to ask for the toast which had been forgotten and was underdone. We sat outside because it was not dog friendly and had to keep standing up to get served. Won't go back.

Well we thought we would give it a 2nd chance as the 1st time they told us the bad service & lack of interest in providing a smile was because of staff shortages due to it being a Sunday???So 2nd visit on a week day proved just as interesting. How hard can it be for green tea & coffee & walnut cake, both unavailable, so next choice coffee cake, sadly not, its being made, so 3rd choice capaccino cake, oh thats being made as well.So it was down to a dryed out chocolate cake & equally dry victoria sponge (presented with a soup spoon & knife to eat with) & drinks not of our choice.Sadly the staff really showed no interested.We always try & support independent businesses but this 1 is proving difficult & next time it's cafe nero for us in TenterdenSadly we weren't alone as people next table couldn't even get the correct coffee orders.

A lovely find! A lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. We had a drink and a slice of cake which was generously portioned. We would return again.

Lovely afternoon tea, very accommodating and friendly staff... we had a baby shower there and nothing was too much trouble. I would have given 5 stars but thought the tables needed a cloth on them - it would have just added the final touch. Keep up the good work though as I'll be recommending you 😊🍰

Staff were more interested in serving the young lads that came in. We waited over 25 minutes for scone and clotted cream friends had eaten their cake so we had to rush ours. Over priced and under rated in my opinion. Just a shame coffee shop down the road was closed and we had no other choice. Won't bother again.......

Awfully long wait for food which can only be described as average and expensive. Won't be returning. Horrendous customer service. The staff seemed to find it too much bother to serve us and we were made to feel very awkward when asking for deserts. Was too much trouble for them. Too busy chatting to eachother rather than serving paying customers.

Booked for 10 people for Mother's Day on the strength of the reviews - but what a disappointment. Service was awful and they definitely need a reminder in customer care. Made to feel like awkward customers and ignored because we asked for plain scones!!!! Such a shame :(
