For a friendly Inn with excellent service and an exceedingly fine menu this is a must visit venue. We often think the Michelin guide folk aren't aware that places like this exist as so far north. Far superior to many "Michelin" we have not returned to. Regrettably being a considerable distance from home we are rarely able to visit more than twice a year. However never missed going whenever in Northumberland.Standard always consistent and never disappointing.

A friend of had told me about this establishment returning home from Alnwick at lunch time we popped in on the off chance the restaurant looked full we were given a table in the bar area next to the lovely open fire. We opted for the 2 course set menu at £14 the food was very well presented and tasty the staff were excellent polite and efficient will definitely be going back.

Found this place by searching for top rated restaurants nearby via Google maps. Arrived and it was a little busy right at the start of Sunday lunch time. Was greeted and offered to have drinks at the bar until a table was ready as we did not have a table reserved. The staff were great, the decor very cozy, warm and fitting for the countryside views and surroundings. The food was absolutely amazing, everything was high quality, plated well and the portion sizes meant nobody was going to leave anything but full. Will definitely return here next time I'm in Northumberland.

Super food, very good choices and value for money. Staff are always lovely, right mix of friendly/ professional. Have always enjoyed meeting friends there and happy to take friends their who haven't been before. Look forward to our next meal here!

Nowhere near 5 star...shoved us in at a table that obviously couldn't accommodate the pram we had with us for my 6 month old. Portions were measly to say the least and ridiculously overpriced. The good tasted nice, but instead of trying to make it look like an art installation, they should focus on value for money and actually put some of the food on the plate

Dinner for 12. Absolutely fantastic, all staff were attentive, polite and customer focused. There was a variety of foods ordered, all came on time I had Venison which was amazing. Thouroughly recommended this pub.

Friendly staff, good menu choice , nice atmosphere. Very busy for Sunday lunch. We were disappointed though by the beef in our Sunday lunch, it was very tough and difficult to cut and eat. I did mention when asked if everything was OK, but the waitress just said OK and removed the plates. Our starters and deserts were good. I would go back, but not choose Sunday lunch again.

A great venue. This place is not exactly on the main road, however, if you are nearby and want great food, this is the place. The food is great, good choices, piping hot where necessary, good portions and reasonably priced. The rural setting is ideal for couples, families or lone diners. The staff were friendly whilst remaining professional and very polite. Covid regulations including wearing face coverings was complied with by the staff and some customers (it's not mandatory in England) and table hygiene was evident. There is good parking for all including disabled. The toilets were clean and kept well tended, disabled toilets are there also. All in all, s good experience.

This was a nice place. The service was good, and the waitress was polite. It had a nice atmosphere and a lovely fire, which added to the atmosphere. It felt very chilled out too. The food wasn’t amazing. I wasn’t a fan of the liver parfait, and the steak and onion pie arrived lukewarm. The chips were nice, but I was surprised I had to pay £3.50 to switch out mash for these. They do have a £14 two course menu which is good value, however. There was quite a wait for condiments, but the waitress was very apologetic. We didn’t have the desserts, but they looked very delicious. The portion sizes generally were also pretty good.

Had lunch on the Saturday, a sandwich was ordered and it was well presented, actually came with a jacket potato (as requested), with a good sized portion of real chips.Great choice of beers, all my preferred options. Staff service was very polite and professional. We stayed for one night in the accommodation and the well presented theme continued. Clean and tidy room, ample tea and coffees available.A nice place to stay. I highly recommend.
