Really nice lunch for two, no booze as driving but starters, mains and dessert were all delicious and really interesting. Would recommend.

Normally this is a five star location. However my last visit was not to the normal standard. Broccoli starter was inedible, dir to excessive garlic (and I love garlic). My wife had the Mallard, however switched to Kale. It was over salted. So guess the chef on this night had lost his taste slightly...

Lovely cozy pub with friendly staff serving good food. Great selection of vegetarian starter options but the only vegetarian main course option was disappointing.

A lovely pub, superb pint (local cask ale - delicious) and charming staff but let down by distinctly average, and in some instances inedible food. Left rather baffled by the cost and previous reviews.Crispy crusted, fluffy foccacia, olive oil rich was good. Serving with butter didn't really work but the bread was really decent.Brown shrimp starters were beyond miserly with the shrimp, with maybe 6 or 7 per plate and a hoofing great portion of kohl rabi. Two forkfuls in and it became a drudgery to be consumed. The trout and horseradish was ok but many will find the horseradish too potent (I liked it). The roasted squash with goats curd was underseasoned but ultimately very tasty, simple and seasonal.Hake was ok, nicely cooked and quality fish served with very squeaky leeks and a slightly odd tartare sauce - the dish design let it down. Partridge pie at £16.50 accompanied by absolutely nothing was outrageously priced. Barely 1.5cm deep its contents we're ok but not dazzling, the thin crust was the star of the show but barely worth half the listed price. The beef roast was ok but two of the plates had extremely tough beef, the third was ok. Extra roast pots were a little leathery and not worth the £4 sides charge.Only two deserts were ordered; treacle tart and a cheese board. Treacle tart was nice. The cheese whilst great quality was undermatured (recently de-fridged) and the crackers were like trying to eat building materials - total fail.Coffee was good, wine selection decent and jugs of table water delivered without request is to be applauded. Parking is tricky unless you know about the carpark at the playing fields at the top of the road, 200m walk down/up the hill. Some work to do, but lots of promise.

Nice clean rooms and fantastic staff. Food is excellent. Plenty of free parking. Would definitely return if in the area.

Ordered Sunday roasts, waited over 45 minutes, meals arrived cold, informed waiting staff who agreed meal was cold and would replace, over heard chef complaining from the kitchen, second meals arrived, one still cold, other meal microwaved and ruined, waiting staff denied meal had been reheated rather than a fresh meal provided; when quite rightly complained was informed we had been banned. Most shocking disappointing experience ever.for such over priced poor quality meals, not to mention that the facilities are unhygienic, gents toilets not clean and establishment in urgent need of repair.Stay away and spend your money in an establishment that appreciates and provides excellent service and values their customers.
