Bel & The Dragon Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

Lovely atmosphere in the bar, very good food but would be nice if they changed the menu a bit more often.

This is my second time staying here and my trip was unexpectedly extended by two weeks due to Covid. I ended up isolating in my room and Andrew and the team literally made me feel like I was at home. I had knocks on the door several times per day checking up on me, offers to get supplies, takeaways, meals delivered to my room etc. Rooms had to be reshuffled so I could stay in the same one but nothing was ever to hard.That all aside the food is great, rooms are lovely and the bar is a great place to have an ale and get to know the locals, I almost feel like one now heading into week 3!Can't recommend the place enough if you're passing through or here for work like myself.

Lovely pub, fantastic staff and delicious food. The food alone is worth five stars. We shared a feast: rib of rare beef plus a whole roast chicken on a bed of roast vegetables. Absolutely amazing! Staff were wonderful too; looking after our kids (even sharpening their colouring pencils) and could not have been more helpful throughout. All in a wonderful pub that mixed a traditional panelled lounge bar with a bright open dining room. We will be back, and recommend it to others too. Thank you.

Celebrated our Father's 90th. Looked after really well throughout The food was delicious. 14 in private room, just as well as our singing was atrocious 🙃😄

Have had two meals here in the last month. First in the restaurant the second in the dog friendly pub. Just 10/10 on both occasions. The food is of a very high standard. Cannot recommend enough .

So much better than The Red Lion. The food made me feel like a rainbow had flown inside of me and reproduced, and the pints could be scranned 7 days a week. Where the Red Lion is cringe as frick, the Bel and the Dragon is somewhere I could see myself returning with one of my many friends.

Stopped off with the local cycling club for a late morning coffee break.The two staff were like chalk and cheese! (For reference: Weds 3 November, 2021).The woman in charge was just plain rude and miserable. At every opportunity, she made it clear we were NOT welcome. Her whole persona and level of customer service was appalling. Or more accurately, non-existant!She blanked us whenever we tried to attract her attention. Instead of serving our orders to each customer, they were just left on random tables for us to collect.Clearly our very presence was an unwelcome burden in creating additional work for her!🙄Admittedly there were 11 of us, and we were only there for coffee and tea cakes - not a full meal! However, we were all clean, quiet and civilised! We all had something to drink and/or eat.The other member of staff (Charlotte) was the complete opposite. She was professional, friendly, accommodating and genuinely helpful. Such a complete contrast. Thank you Charlotte🙂.We all have bad days, and maybe working with customers doesn't help. If that's the case, maybe try and take a day off or focus on the non customer-facing roles!

Andrew and his team are amazing. We stayed over night and the room was perfect. We attended an after wedding party for 80 people and the whole thing was managed perfectly. First class food and wine served throughout by happy smiling staff. I would recommend the Bel and Dragon.

Andrew and the team make every guest feel welcome. Friendly check-in, excellent amenities (including complementary Sloe Gin) and a great breakfast. Ample parking was available and the room wanted for nothing.I would highly recommend and I’m now looking for an excuse to stay again. I should add that I first visited a decade ago and the quality and comfort has significantly improved following the renovation and changes under Andrew’s new team.

I had a wonderful mid week lunch today (12 May 2021) with a friend. We sat out in the garden patio area. It was absolute bliss. Cosy blankets were provided, but fortunately the sun was shining. The snacks we had were delicious and the service was excellent. The staff are so warm and welcoming. In fact on all of the previous occasions I've been to the Bel & Dragon I've been so struck by how great the staff are. I look forward to going there again and again as a trip to the B&D makes me very happy indeed.
