Ideal place to stay for a trip to Highclere Castle home of Downton Abbey the TV drama literally round the corner, staff worked hard but not enough of them .

Stopped here for dinner one night as we were staying locally. It was so good that we went back for breakfast the next day. Ben and the other staff were lovely and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Very good food. Proper linen napkins. Great attention to detail. Lovely ambience very cosy and comfortable.

A nice relaxing pub atmosphere, Would of liked a bigger menuHad to wait for my second drink as it got forgotten but nice waiter made up for thatOver all a relaxing experience

The place is so clean, staff are very friendly and nice, food is spot on, so romantic globes out side and very close to the castle, really recommend and will definitely come back. One of the best country side hotels I have ever been to.

Nipped in here as we were staying locally. The decor is really nice, and the staff are very friendly. The food selection is good too. The outdoor area has a really interesting layout with lots of covered 'pods' which I imagine is excellent in the summer for al fresco dining and drinking. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Great find pub - food good, drinks good, great real fire experience. We stayed over & our room was nice with lovely welcoming gifts 🎁 nuts, crisps, popcorn, chocolate & Port was a lovely touch. Only downside was the wet dog smell on hallway to our room; not nice.Ps pub smell was lovely

Just had Sunday lunch. Both mine and my fathers beef and lamb were inedible terrible cuts of meat. Service was poor.Waited 10 minutes for mint sauce and horseradish usually the lamb would be gone by then if it wasn’t so tough.Really taking the Micky with the prices for such poor service and food. Guess you’re paying for the decor!?

An amazing short break staying at the Carnarvon Arms. Excellent food, drink and accommodation. Warm and cosy, with the addition of snow and a roaring log fire making it even better. Friendly helpful staff, who couldn’t do enough to make our stay a real pleasure. Really close to Highclere Castle too, making our visit there very straightforward. Highly recommend a stay here, we will definitely be back.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff! We went there for dinner and stayed one night in their accommodations. Very clean and comfortable! Highly recommend!

Generally a little underwhelmed. For the price, the room was quite small and the welcome note (whilst a nice thought) was written with an incorrect name. The dinner was very disappointing. Had the strangest liver parfait ever that was served pre-spread on brioche. Wait staff were very nice though as was breakfast. Lovely little hotel, just a shame the dinner menu wasn’t up to the same level.
