Oliver's in Basingstoke and Deane

Still the best fish and chips in Basingstoke.Used to come here all the time but hadn't visited in a couple of years mainly due to the pandemic. Returned with my family and the food was incredible as always. My little girl loved her meal and for once barely anything ended up on the floor which isn't the case in other restaurants.Will definitely be coming back again.

Love this fish and chip shop. Always looks clean and is always busy. Fish is cooked well. Chip portions could be a bit larger, but they taste good, and they have the best curry sauce of any chippie I've been to. Lose a star cos i think they are a bit pricey, but given i live a fair few miles away from them and still visit must say something

Haven't been to Oliver's in a while given we'd moved in completely the opposite direction. Fate had us in the area, just before closing and we decided to pay a visit. Glad to see that the quality hadn't gone down hill in the slightest. Best quality fish portions, great chips. Fantastic customer service too.I would have posted a photo but I ate the lot before remembering!

Had an enjoyable lunch with my mum and sister. Lovely fish and chips, generous portions. Finished off with a Banana split. Absolutely gorgeous. I will definitely be visiting again on my next visit from France. The young waitress was very attentive, very impressed with the service.

Wow! How things have gone downhill here. Ordered 2 x large cod and received as per the pics. Ive been a customer of Olivers for over 35 years and the "large" that was served tonight was under half of what we usually get. Emailed a pic in and was then called by a member of staff who said it was normal to receive something of this size as large. They tried to claim that the fillets were thick when they were not! They refused to accept fault in any way and suggested I wasn't able to consider proportions! They also suggested that I had an opportunity to view the fillets to see if acceptable before buying! Why should I ever do this when I've no knowledge that Oliver's have decided to serve such awful portions. Glad that Fish'N"Chicken is closer to us and serves bigger portions...and better food. To add to the excitement, the fish was not only small but was dry and tasteless. I would very much suggested avoiding Olivers until they sort their act out! Awful!

Great fish and chips. Decent sized portions, not enormous but you're definitely not left wanting. Really crisp batter on the fish, adds such a good flavour. If you have kids, order a senior's fish and chips, it's perfectly sized for a smaller appetite. My only complaint is that there's always a wait for your order - I guess Oliver's popularity speaks for itself!

Been here a few times now and it never fails to dissappoint. The quality of the food is top and the service is even better. The lovely team are always friendly and welcoming and look after you. Normally take my grandad out for a late lunch and has become one of our favourite lunch spots. Thanks again to the team for making us feel welcome and for the lovely food. We were extremely disappointed with Oliver's fish and chip shop in Old Basing.I asked for 2 large fish and medium and large chips.The fish was a joke, they looked like 2 eels.After a very long wait it wasn't worth it.We won't be coming back.

Had to wait absolutely ages (queues were ridiculously long) and after all that the ‘large’ battered cod was the skinniest piece of fish I’ve ever seen..Also gravy tasted a bit weird (but was a nice consistency).Staff were polite and friendly, cod and chips tasted okay to be fair.
