Very poor service. They do not come to your table to take order until you find them. Weird. Then also they don’t take order on the front desk. Their cakes are amazing, coffees are good but service very poor and unexpected slow

I was bought an Afternoon Tea for two at Patisserie Valerie for Christmas and finally got around to going to the Basingstoke branch today. We arrived at 11.50am and were told to come back in 15 minutes so we did that and ordered a coffee. At 12.20pm we were told that a decision had been made that Afternoon Tea would not be served until 12.30pm. At 12.45pm we asked how long it might be as we'd booked to see a film at 13.15pm and the very apologetic waitress said she would ask but the chef didn't like people chasing him, she came out and said it would be at least another 20 minutes so in total it was an hour from first going into Patissrie Valerie and we never did get an afternoon tea! There were other people waiting and saying they'd not had the food they'd ordered and one couple walked out. (As did we eventually after being patient) I would never recommend this place or go back and will be exchanging my Red Letter Day.

Went today for 2 breakfasts, 2 teas and a tap water. The food was quite nice although the order was slightly wrong (asked for no bacon and rosti instead but got both - not really a problem as wasn’t charged extra) however the drinks clearly weren’t on their way. I went up to the counter to ask and she said she was about to do them but not really convinced . We then got the tea but no water - didn’t bother asking again. Left a lot of the tea (which was very expensive I might add- nearly £7 for two!!) in the end as my baby was very fussy after the waiting around, but I was super thirsty at this point. Not sure if we’ll return

I wanted to have a Special cake on my Birthday. So, I checked places near by me and Patisserie Valerie was in my list. Ladies greeted me well, heard everything I told them about expectatioons from the cake, and they kindly offered me a Gateu cake. It was love from the first.. cake. It is definitely worth ordering another one as it melts in your mouth and you want to repeat this pleasure again. ❤️❤️

Ordered a raspberry faultline gateau cake and was delivered a lemon monstrosity. I can tell my son was very disappointed as he choose the cake for his 5th birthday. Do not order from this place. Shocking experience

Four of us had afternoon tea today 20/3/22, at Patisserie Valerie in Basingstoke. It was excellent, everything was perfect. We especially want to mention Karen who really was a fabulous member of staff. She was friendly, efficient and made our visit special today.

I was looking forward to coming for my girlfriends birthday but when we arrived we waiting at the door as instructed by the sign for 5 minutes. The waitresses saw us and kept looking away and didn’t say anything so we went up and asked and they said that they had tables to clear so they could not serve us even though they had clear tables to sit on. It wasn’t that busy other than the dirty tables and the waitresses were rude and made us feel unwelcomed so we left and took our service elsewhere. Would not recommend at all!

On arrival, I waited to be seated as instructed by the sign at their door. I made eye contact with many of the waitresses and the staff there, only to receive a smile and no one bothering to come sit me down. I eventually went up to the counter, only to be told I can sit anywhere. All the tables were dirty, the waitresses have to be prompted a few times to get my table cleaned. The waitress told me that this is why I should wait to be seated, but they were also the one who told me to sit anywhere, and with all tables dirty, perhaps they should focus on cleaning the tables more efficiently than making hypocritical comments. I eventually ordered through the app, having given up on getting the waitresses' attention to take my order. Drinks ok but disappointing service and cleanliness. For a chain coffee shop, it should run the same as their branches. Don't see any of their branches having this problem. And they weren't even short staffed - about 5 waitresses/staff running the floor. What a shame.

The food here is ok, but the service and the waiting times are horrendous. I went there today after avoiding the place for a few weeks (we swore we'd never go back as we had to wait 45mins for food). We gave them a chance and ordered two coffees and two slices of cakes. There were two other tables who both had their food already so we were optimistic that our order wouldn't take long. We ordered as soon as we sat down to save time, but after 10 minutes, our server was cleaning tables and there was no one busy making our coffees. Another 10 minutes later all the staff were still cleaning so we left. Our order should have been with us in under 5 minutes but for whatever reason they didn't bother to make our order after 20. This was the last time. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else where the staff actually want you there.
