Independent pub with a cosy if slightly dated interior. A warm welcome awaits and great service. The food is very generously portioned and feels comfortably home made. Bread and butter pudding was divine. Definitely worth a return visit.

Lovely venue nice waitresses and a really good well cooked Sunday lunch. Highly recommended lamb shank !

What a wonderful traditional British pub. Well manicured gardens, even for this time of year. Inside is very comfortable and a welcoming roaring log fire. Landlord is really friendly, in fact, all the staff are very friendly and simply nice people to be around. It's very homely. Toilets are immaculate. The menu is great, something for everyone. Food is cooked to order and always very hot and fresh. A nice specials board. The pie is delicious, home baked and well filled. It's not a poncey gastro pub, traditional upscale meals. Good selection of beers, ale and wine.

I hve been to this pub/ restaurant on many occasions.it is a family run cosy restaurant. Food is good, atmosphere nice, and service is good. I recommend this restaurant. Outdoor area with nice garden and area to eat.

Absolutely wonderful roast today! Booked the day before for a party of five, including a three year old. On arrival, they went to the trouble of specially making the little one in our group a strawberry Nesquik after it’s what she said she wanted to drink - a lovely touch. The service was excellent… attentive and accurate, but without being overly hovering and annoying. The roast beef was nothing short of excellent, and the portions generous too. Good value for money as well. Will definitely be returning!

Comfortable friendly pub. Staff were very efficient and helpful.

It had been over 20 years since I had been here. I enjoyed it then and again today. Good food quickly served - mind, we were close to the end of food service at 14:30. Fresh decor within a typical old established pub. Worth a revisit. (Watch the narrow car part entrance)

Excellent food, friendly service, nice garden. To be honest when I saw the menu I was thinking of going somewhere else as its very traditional pub grub. But actually the food was great. I had the fish and chips and the fish was really fresh and the batter light and tasty. Great chips and couldn't fault the mushy peas hence 5 stars for great pub grub.

Great Friday night fish and chips, lovely host's. Enjoyed the irish coffee in the pud area after dinner. Would be lovely to sit outdoors weather permitting.

This is what you call a proper pub. Excellent ale delicious food and very friendly staff to humans and the most important people Dogs. It is very old worldly & not a bit of plastic or giant tv in site. It is very historic & was the old courthouse in days when things were much slower. Long live the real English pubs of years gone by.
