Carlito Burrito in Brighton and Hove

Unfortunately was sat right opposite the bar/kitchen and I could see that the staff (one guy) was using bare hands when handling all the food. Saw him touch surfaces, bottles, the till, his own drink, his face, phone, grab pickled onions to top a dish, wrap a burrito - all with bare hands........... and didn't see them washed but did see them wiped on the front of his apron. The food was quite good and this is my second time coming, but put me off from returning.

I'd like to start by saying the staff were phenomenal.I kind of enjoyed my experience of Carlito Burrito.However I found certain aspects very disappointing.I ordered the fish tacos myself, which by quote of the restaurant would change my life.Sadly they did not, the taco tortilla was quite soggy causing it to fall apart, the fish was just plain cod which is quite boring, especially when you're paying £12 for two tacos. The rest of the ingredients were nice, but overall i was quite dissatisfied with them.The classic margarita was again okay, but not fantastic. It tasted very watered down and it was absent of the intensity and flavour I believe margaritas are popular for, I may be incorrect but I am almost certain the margaritas are premixed, which is pretty shady when you're playing £8 for it. Even if it tastes the same, it's nice to have a drink made from it's constituent ingredients rather than poured from a bottle, that's supermarket standards.The nachos were a big hit for us, great texture and flavour, every part played it's role fantastically and I'd very much enjoy having them again.Overall I enjoyed Carlito Burrito, perhaps burritos would've been a better bet (but i wanted my life changed). I'd like to go again and give it a second chance, but with so many fantastic restaurants in Brighton, with more opening daily, what's the point in risking a bad experience?

Superb steak tacos, and the passion fruit margaritas were divine.

Tasty, but not amazing -Overall experience was fine, friendly staff, good atmosphere. Our main concern was the price relative to the food. For £11 per main we expected a bit more wow factor than what we received, which was a pretty standard take on Mexican street food. We were excited by great catchy names on the menu, but when we received the food it was a little disappointing sadly.

Very vibrant and fun place!! We had great food, not the cheapest mexican in brighton but worth it. The waitress was on her own but was so friendly and didnt forget about us. Will definitely go back soon!!

Amazing service!We went last minute and everyone was incredibly accommodating. I’d like to especially give a shout out to Hettie and Paula for this, and for their amazing service.The food was so good. We got totopos, chorizo and halloumi burrito, fish tacos, sweet potato fries and churros. It was the best burrito and tacos that either of us have ever had. We also got the margaritas which were amazing!Highly recommend this place and we will both definitely be coming back.

Amazing Mexican food. Seems super authentic, with a great atmosphere! Our waitress was on her own when we arrived but still went out of her way to make sure we and others were well looked after.Drinks and food were top shelf, no complaints whatsoever. Prices aren't low, but are on track for Brighton.Might be the best Mexican food in Brighton (possibly drawn with Halisco if you're nearer Hove). Highly recommended!

Excellent food and service, we started with the summer nachos and a cocktail, followed by the jackfruit burrito and the pulled pork tacos, both were delicious! Also, really impressed with the staff, there was one girl running the floor and even with six tables both outside and in, she was brilliant, no one was left waiting. Really impressed. Looking forward to our next visit!
