Chip Basket in Brighton and Hove

i remember when these guys were based on Church Road, and they were excellent. Chips were cooked to absolute perfection...some of the best I had ever tasted. Had made a few orders on Deliveroo in recent times and the chips were hit and miss. Hope you've improved and may try again soon..5 stars for the memories.

So blessed to live less than one minute away from this fish and chip shop. Reasonably priced and one of the best fish and chip take aways I have come across. They do serve as a small resturant when no restrictions are in place with Covid 19 etc, although not tried sit in as live too close by for that really, I have in time see folk enjoying a dine in... Lovely local fish and chip shop, one of the best additions to this end of Portland Road over recent years 😊

Well worth going out of your way for.Fabulous fish and chips, lovely batter and all cooled from scratch while you wait, not off a hot shelf, so it takes a little longer but it's more than worth the wait!

Best fish & chips I've had for a long time. The batter is very tasty and not overly oily and they use those potatoes that give the chips a soft squishy inside. Friendly staff completes the experience!

Just ordered for the first time through deliveroo. Amazing experience! First class service and quality. Food was fresh and hot and really good size portions. Good value and so glad I chose to order from you out of the choice of many! And I am very hard to please when it comes to food! Deliveroo driver was very polite too and a super fast delivery! Would highly recommend.

Every neighbourhood needs a chippy like this. The guys are friendly, good humoured and generous characters who prefer to fry to order, which is great if you don’t mind the short wait; I spend the time memorising fish names from the poster on the wall opposite the counter (an obsession from watching the concluding round of a Celebrity Squares episode when the finalist was unable to name “Nine fish you can find at a fishmongers” and could not) or watching the footy on the TV.The food is fresh and tasty so please do pay a visit.

had fish and chips from here a couple of times now and staff friendly. the food is the nicest chippy around hove. cannot understand any of the single star reviews as its always cooked to order

I would come to this restaurant every week but the last time I came I was served large chips with a fly on the plate , the chips looked like they where sitting there for ages and we’re cold ,the fly was dead on the plate which I find rather disturbing. Once we found out there was a fly my son had to go the bathroom to vomit .When we went in there ,there was no tissue and feces in the toilet of such was triggering and I will refuse to come to this restaurant ever again ! We had haddock fish and chips yesterday. I have to say this fish and chip shop is a hidden pearl. While the shop is rather no-frills and not as "hip" as some of its competition, the quality of the fish and chips is excellent. Crispy batter and moist fish inside! Lovely chunky chips, maybe could be a bit crispier on the outside while still fluffy inside, but no I am asking for perfection... They ran out of medium-sized haddock, so we got two large pieces for the price of the medium haddock :-) Definitely recommend this local place!

Great chippie. Used to be on Church Road, took a break and relocated to Poets Corner. Food always good and fresh. Downside is they rarely have very much ready so usually need to wait 10 mins or so.
