Mekan Charcoal Grill Meze in Brighton and Hove

Best grill in town ! Food was delicious, meat was cooked to perfection portion size was plentiful , the baklava dessert was amazing, tasteful and cool decor with a great ambience ,staff was friendly and attentive and provided a great service , definitely a return visit and highly recommended.

Kuzu Beyti Sarma and prawn were so delicious! I literally felt like i am in Turkey. Thank you! Can’t wait to come back again💕

Problems: we waited literally for a record 1.5 hours. The service is terrible but understandable- only two waitresses serving around 100 customers. The kitchen is clearly short of stuff, but the biggest problem is the management. When the orders are clearly beyond the capacity of the kitchen, they should do something or tell the customers a realistic waiting time, but they did not.The waitresses forgot about things we asked for (like bread); we have to ask for things that should automatically be on the table (like sauces). During such a long wait, there was never a sorry to make us feel better (the waitress originally said that it will take ‘more than 30 mins’) But again, they are short of stuff so we do feel sympathetic for the stuff who are working extra workloads.What we appreciate: the charcoal grilled food was delicious indeed. The meat was fatty and flavourful. We ordered the biggest sharing platter for 6 people and cannot finish. The quantity was good.

I've been to a ton of Turkish spots in my time (mainly in London). This place really took me by surprise. There was one waitress between about 6 tables so service was a little slow however it's understandable they didn't put more on being a Monday evening. With this being said, she was fantastic. Really efficient and knew the menu well enough to make excellent suggestions. She didn't miss a beat with our order, especially impressive given she didn't write any of it down! The food was honestly amazing. I've never had Lamb as tender as I've had here before. The chicken was even more tender than that! Excellent food and prices.

Awesome food, delicious. I had never liked lamb because of its particular flavour, but at Mekan lamb is soft and well marinated, it melts in your mouth.

First time to try Turkish cuisine. Surprisingly that suits our taste. Foods, including bread are prepared on the charcoal grill stove, serve hot, fresh and delicious. Highly recommend daily soup and lamb chops.

We had a great meal here on a Sunday night. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Great selection of dishes and all were really tasty. Could easily go a number of times without having the same thing twice.Loved being able to see the open flame grill and kitchen from the table.

This place is fantastic! From the moment we walked in until we left we were treated as honoured guests. The wait staff are so professional and accurate in their work. Then there is the food!! This is delicious and substantial. We enjoyed every morsel. Thank you

Some of the best Turkish food I’ve had in Hove in a while. Lamb chops were grilled to perfection. Mezze board was fresh and delicious. All at very reasonable prices.
