Montefiore Fisheries in Brighton and Hove

We go here often as it’s our closest chip shop. To be honest the chips are sometimes a bit greasy and floppy, and sometimes the fish isn’t well cooked, but sometimes the fish is great so we’re not totally put off. The current owners could be more cheery but maybe they don’t feel cheery - who know? It’s an ok chippy. You will be able to get fish and chips and eat it and feel full of nice food.

walking past during lockdown and got the urge. Food was A+++. Had medium cod, medium chips and a battered sausage and all tasted fresh and crisp - NOT greasy. very satisfied.

This has been my local chippy for 3yrs I wouldn't go anywhere else, I've not found a single bone in any of the fish. Highly recommended.

good chips. nice batter on fish, i come here every time we want fish and chips, also a good selection of other traditional chip shop food.also, on a side point- the chap behind the counter might seem a bit grumpy but if you smile he softens and smiles back! lol He was also very kind to my daughter and gave her some free chips. so thumbs up from us 👍👍👍

Traditional no-frills fish and chip shop offering superbly cooked fish and chips at very reasonable prices. We had the special offer (Monday through Wednesday) cod and chips @ £4.50 and it was faultless: the chips had just the right amount of crispness vs soft centres and the fish was white, lightly battered and of very good quality. They even provide that delicious vinegar from the pickled onion jar which goes so well with chips. Sat outside to eat them on the small terrace (2 tables) in front of the shop. Will definitely be returning. Give them a try, you won't regret it.
