Sportsman in Brighton and Hove

I can’t believe it . As soon as we entered we was place on a dirty table with cake , pens pencils and a plastic frog ?! A member of staff has left chemicals on the floor, over the time of our visit the majority of groups with children were put in this area THIS IS A HEALTH AND SAFTY HAZARD . The meat on offer was dry and old to a point where the carvers couldn’t even cut it - that is ignoring the attitude and clear “shaky ness” and darting eyes of these staff. There was one member of staff behind the bar and four other members all returned at the same time from their break- to say the least the one who had clearly been working alone was exhausted and upset. The service was so slow as a result and shocking. The Guinness my partner received was really light In colour to a point where we had to get his money back to which he stated that the food was also not great . Honestly , all members in my party wished we’d asked for our money back as we left hungry and disappointed . We did not ask as the staff were not approachable in any way. For the premium we paid for a carvery on a Sunday was not worth the money .

Despite bing very short staff they were very polite and friendly to deal with. I understand that some things were of the menu and that can not be help. The staff at the sportsman did a great job in serving me and my family with delicious food with a great selection of veg. And the staff behind the bar did a good job in suggesting food that was on the menu. Look forward to returning again soon.

Our server, Aaron, was super helpful to our party of 8. He is very friendly and is a credit behind the bar. I was very impressed with the way he knew many of the names of the customers, and was even able to advise 3 gentlemen that only the carvery was available. He apologised profusely; but we were all happy as that was what we had come for. Very enjoyable, very friendly, and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

As an M&B Group property this one is a Stonehouse Grill and Carvery.Very good it is too !Food is well cooked,plentiful and an excellent choice of veg sides if you choose Carvery.Drinks are as you would expect for this brand very sensibly priced.On our visit 5pm Tuesday,the property was very clean and tidy and tables were cleared within decent timeframe.I've heard its prudent to book for Sunday's though.All in all very good value.

Should have been put off by drinks left on table and it not being cleaned before being sat down. The you pick up the menu with an explicit picture on it.Ordered the food on app only to have to replace 2 of the meals and wasn’t refunded the difference. The macaroni cheese was cold. 2 seconds later bing goes the microwave and 2 mins later we have a hot meal. The bread with it was burnt see pics. Fish and chips had cold chips and soggy batter. When a meal goes back to the kitchen hardly touched surely you ask the customer if everything was ok?No condiments offered had to ask for salt. Then ordered extra drinks ordered grey goose and not in stock but got Smirnoff instead no refund of difference in price.Then we went to bar to order the desserts due to an allergy only for them to send out the wrong item with cream on. The reason we ordered at the bar as my daughter was allergic to cream. Fresh strawberries were frozen. You just couldn’t get more things wrong if you tried.Thought we had turned up to a faulty towers experience day.

We come here at least twice a month and never have a issue. We’re always greeted with Dina’s smiling face. And made to feel welcome by the wonderful staff. The food is always brilliant and we always manage to leave feeling stuffed! Would definitely recommend here over a Toby any day of the week! You won’t regret it :)

Very enjoyable lunch. I took my disabled sister. We were immediately helped at the entrance by a kind gentleman who opened doors for us and helped us to table. The carvery had an amazing choice of vegetables and was piping hot. To top it all we had a discount on our bill as well. Staff exceptionally friendly. Our only disappointment was we didnt have enough room for pudding. Will certainly visit again

I live in Worthing but when I do come down to Brighton this is my first choice of pub/restaurant to come to. Love the food menu the carvery and pizzas is delicious. Love the clean bright modern look to the building inside. The manager Paul is such a nice guy as he is new doing such amazing job. Would be definitely come again and highly recommend to anyone who wants to eat or drink. Thanks again guys!

Went to celebrate a birthday, early evening, we were a group of 6. There were various missing vegetables, the roast potatoes were so hard, completely unedible?The Meat Station was a complete mess, with sawdust scraps of meat everywhere.Painful, watching the Carver, trying to carve the meat " Paper thin, which just disintegrated when place on the plate.There were 2 small pieces of beef left on offer, they looked like two very burnt, dried up old brown shoes. (Why can't you just be served two "decent" slices of meat) instead of scraps.This place really needs to get it's act together. It is slowly sinking bit by bit.

We've always loved the Carvery at The Sportsman but the thing that really makes our meals there is how accommodating the staff are. Tonight we needed a Beyond Burger with Carvery veg and many extra Yorkshire puddings for my autistic daughter. Nicole, our server, and the Carvery staff helped us out with a smile and made it all feel so easy. Highly recommended!
