Came for full English breakfast with my brother and grandma, food was amazing and the portion sizes were very generous. Staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. My brother is lactose intolerant but lots of milk alternative options for coffee. Will definitely visit again!!

I booked a table for a special birthday meal and had a disappointing experience. I used to enjoy visiting a number of years ago and the cafe has sadly completely changed. The floor was covered in mud, the table dirty and there was a bowl full of dirty serviettes/food on the floor by the table upon arrival. The food quality was poor and did not match up to the cost of the menu. Due to the self-service I had to queue to ask for the dirty bowl to be cleared and unfortunately the waitress appeared reluctant and frustrated at this request. The teapots and tea cups were dirty and there was no clean drinking glasses other than a wine glass to have a cold drink in. I would not recommend this cafe, especially if you are coming for a special event.

Very poor food! We ordered a burger and a chicken club sandwich. Both arrived bone dry, the burger was like rubber, completely inedible. Both dishes had obviously been sat waiting for some time, most definitely not cooked fresh to order. Restaurant prices, certainly not restaurant quality!

Have eaten here a few times over the past ten years. The place used to serve great food and the service was decent. Went today with the kids and waited for an hour for the kids food to arrive, our food having arrived half an hour before. The waitress had said there would be a twenty minute wait, although maybe more… fair enough, I didn’t mind waiting the half hour for ours. But then asked a couple of times about the kids food (a bacon bap and kids fish and chips), the waitress was friendly and apologetic and when the kids food finally arrived she said they would refund the kids meals. We asked at the counter as directed by the waitress and the manager was totally unhelpful and reused to honor the refund saying we could give the kids food back and he’d refund the money. I’m pretty patient and would have just shrugged it off but the food was terrible too, sadly. The club sandwich was served on cheap white burnt bread, the chicken looked like it had been deep fried multiple times and was the texture of an old leather boot. My halloumi burger was ok, but more the kind of food you’d expect at a greasy spoon, soggy iceberg lettuce & tomato, deep fried (refried halloumi) in a white bun with some chips, that had visited the fryer more than a few times. Again, I’m not super fussy but when you’re paying gastropub prices (nearly £12 for a halloumi burger), you hope for better. Especially in Brighton where there’s so much good food available for much less.

Avoid. Very cheap pub food at not cheap prices. I couldn’t eat the burger, and when I complained to the chef he just said I was wrong. Gave the burger to the dog and went round to the tearooms. Much better!

Lovely setting. Friendly staff. We were very lucky and had amazing sunshine even in mid October.Food was good, my sandwich was a bit dry but still enjoyable

The building is lovely, but everything else is pretty standard. The garden is a nice place to enjoy a drink. Wish the staff would clear tables in the garden and tidy up napkins blown off tables, this would help keep everything looking nice and cared for. I'd go there again, but it's difficult to recommend it.

Lovely house converted into a cafe and restaurant. Great venue for a wedding or event. Parking available on site. We went for afternoon tea but you do have to book in advance. We then sat down in the cafe area of the house. Room for approx 20 people. Service was average, coffee took a while to arrive. Not great value for money but it is a great place to visit for views and property. Might try it again on a different day.

The pot plants could be watered more as many looked pretty near deaths door. Staff said some are fake, well, time to get some more 🙂 Otherwise worth a visit !
