Bustling, and busy with friendly young staff. Lots of space and some great big tables in bays (it would be advisable to book for a group of say 8 to have space to eat. Good pub food with a thoughtful veggie slant if you need it. In good weather a very large outdoor seating area. Not their fault but local parking is a rip-off, walk or cycle if you can. Really convenient to seafront and Hove Lawns.

Great pub. Great beer garden, looking forward to it's refurb underway. The craft beer selection is too notch, Humble Plates in the kitchen are superb and whilst I've never been I'm told it's also a great live music venue.

Went in for a roast last Sunday. Unfortunately, having booked well in advance we were seated on a high up table with uncomfortable stools right in front of the live singer, which was quite loud. He did stop after a couple of songs but we weren't moved because they were fully booked. They had run out of 1 of 2 of the vegetarian options which left my friend with the unfortunate option of having to have yet another nut roast! And we had ordered two sides of cauliflower cheese, which ended up being dropped on the floor and happened to be the last two servings available too... luckily the roast itself was delicious!

Having visited the first time for a gig, I was pleasantly impressed.Great backroom venue for music, good beer available in the main bar, and the food my friend had looked lovely, especially the chips I stole from him!Staff were really nice as well. All in all, a great vibe and nice experience.

Good beer selection, friendly and helpful staff, but ran out of Guinness and Cask ale by 3pm on a 6 Nations Saturday, not a good start.Had the pork belly small plate, and they aren't kidding about small, 8 quid for literally half a rib worth of belly, presented very well, but still a little chewy in places where the fat hadn't rendered/melted, expected better.Burger was great, poutine nice but that and the dirty fries had chunky chips in them rather than fries so went soggy quite quick, not the same quality as same brand kitchen at level 1.I would come back, just hope they can fix the few things that weren't right.

Great pub! I'm sure you're aware of the sign damage at corner of beer garden. It looks dangerous and making very loud banging noise in storm. A concerned neighbour x

Had to try the new menu from Humble Plates and it didn't disappoint. Clearly we forgot to take photos before we started eating but that's a good sign tbh. The chicken burger was rich and crispy and all the right things. The cod cheeks and chips are serious pub grub and aubergine was amazing too. Serious pub food. As always the beer was ridiculously good. Vault city pastry sour and jester king mixed ferm were the stand outs. Best pub in Brighton (Hove) FACT

Fab food and beer, dog friendly too and really good jazz room on Tuesday evenings

The front of this venue looks almost like a Disney castle, like a cheesy family restaurant. The inside however is not quite so warm and welcoming and I'd say not really good for kids. The decked garden is absolutely lovely.Food is tasty and in very good portions.Drinks are very expensive. Over £4 for a bottle of alcohol free beer.

Went to a folk gig at the Brunswick, saw some excellent singers including Robb Johnson, Andy Melrose and the fabulous Mollettes. No food served after 9pm but otherwise a great venue.
