Although the food took a little while to come, it was definitely worth the wait, the Burger, Trout and Fish and chips were all superb!

One of my favourite pubs in Brighton! Ticks all the boxes. Friendly Neighbourhood local with genuine friendly staff and fantastic food, jazzy vibes in the evening.Highly recommended (as much as I prefer to keep it a well kept secret 😋)

Anniversary and birthday celebrations so wanted a decent night out. Faffed about for a while for the upmarket places downtown without success. Staying in an Air BnB a couple of miles from town. Ran out of time, strolled round the corner and in desperation, settled for the nearby pub. Fell on our feet. Lovely staff, friendly locals, tasty food. Then out they came with the candle and a rendition of 'Happy Birthday'. My wife normally avoids that sort of thing but that just capped off a delightful evening. Thank you The Chimney House.

Tis remains an excellent pub with a choice of real ales with Harveys at the centre! Terrible that we have to praise pubs for serving good beer but while the ale culture is being eroded across the UK it is essential to offer praise. The food here remains good though pricey and I noticed recently the menu was slimmed down with not quite enough options for vegetarians and pescatarians. However this remains one of Brîghton’s best pubs so I will be back and back again.

Honestly one of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve had in Brighton!I had the pork, which was cooked to perfection, it melted in your mouth but then the skin was so crispy. The roast potatoes were delicious but wish there were a couple more. There were a few little carrots on the side which were also nice but i hopped there to be some more veggies too.Regardless, everything on the plate was so tasty and well cooked.I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this roast so I will definitely come again!

The best duck I ever had. Did not expect duck breast to be this delicious with kale and artichoke. My husband loved his steak too. Will definitely go back!

Pretty disappointing from start to finish. I made the booking online for the roast and the form said someone would contact to confirm. Never heard anything back so had to chase up the day before to confirm whether we’d been booked in or not. Staff said they hadn’t had the time to bother checking online bookings but they didn’t have any space left at the time I’d requested now but could offer later. We decided to take that anyway and hoped the mistake would mean a better service on the day.Arrived, was given a table for five even though we’d booked for six. An extra chair was added on the end and we were basically sat with another group we were so close. Because they’d moved our booking back, they had run out of pretty much everything so we had to run rock, paper, scissors to decide who would get which meal.Food took an hour to come, when it did everything was dried out from where it had been sat on a low heat all day - the potatoes were so hard that even after soaking in gravy it was still difficult to cut into them and harder to eat.We kept having to go to the bar to ask for service or request things because the staff didn’t come to check in on us or take our orders. In particular, one member (assuming she was the manager) seemed to find us an annoyance rather than paying customers who they had already messed about with the booking.I’m sure it would be good if you got there when everything is cooked fresh, but for what we paid, it really wasn’t worth it.

Best Sunday roast in BrightonGreat food and drinks, lovely local village feel despite only being 5 mins from 7 dials. Always a warm welcome from the staff who are attentive and friendly, even during busy times. This is not your average pub food with outstanding specials that change regularly - last week’s fish pie with kale was the best I’ve ever eaten. Well loved by locals and visitors alike, popular with families early evening and offers a more grown up cosy vibe later on.

Set away from main roads this is a lovely quiet pub with friendly attentive staff. Food is great, a relatively small menu which is a good indication everything is cooked fresh. A good specials board takes you away from standard pub grub. A few of the beers were off but prepared to put that down to recent supply chain issues and the current climate. A hidden gem.

5* service from kitchen and bar staff. Unforgettable and unique evening back in September 2020. Would recommend to anyone. The incredible chefs of the Chimney House dreamt up and prepared a fabulously fishy five course Saturday night extravaganza for our gang of landlubbers. Major kudos is owed for taking on the challenge of transforming a fresh catch into a sumptuous menu - it was out the park! Our haul of 'peng' fresh mackerel and six plaice was transformed into delicious ceviche tacos, perfectly bbq'd mackerel with plum, yummy fish sliders, hearty cannellini bean, chorizo & mackerel stew as well as classic battered fish & chips. We couldn't have asked for more from the kitchen - everyone was seriously impressed with the creativity and execution delivered throughout the evening.Hats off as well to the front of house team - they handled a rather boisterous group of gentlemen with no shortage of grace and great aplomb. Many thanks!I would replay this night in a heartbeat - it was one of my best in 2020.
