The Copper Clam in Brighton and Hove

The Copper Clam served very fresh and good food, we had a bad experience at another seafood restaurant by Brighton earlier so we weren't expecting much from this place as it didn't have many people eating, we were surprised at how good it was! However, the service at the beginning was very slow and we had to ask for the menus so it didn't seem welcoming for us. The food also took long to come out but that's fine as long as the food is cooked well!

Went here both days I was in Brighton, can’t say it’s exceptionally good, but everything is delicious!

Surprisingly good restaurant on Brighton (lower) seafront. Table booked at The Copper Clam for Saturday lunch service. Relatively high prices were fully matched with quality food (mostly seafood) that you might not expect in such a touristy area. Seating inside and outside (if you like watching people go by). Fish stew with bread was excellent, not too fishy or too much tomatoe, but very tasty. Others enjoyed king prawns, sea bass, monkfish, and sirloin steak dishes. Service for us was very good. A slight error on the bill was quickly rectified. I think we all agreed that this was an excellent seafood restaurant.

Lovely little restaurant along the seafront.Oysters were lovely. To be honest, not the largest or best oysters we've had, but was nice for a snack.Fairly extensive wine list. Would visit again & try some of the other dishes.

Having been so disappointed in our quest for Turbot at The Salt Room, and the subsequent debacle there the previous evening, we lucked-out by wandering past the Copper Clam just as they were opening for lunch, where Turbot was on the specials list.We got a window table in the very cosy upstairs dining room and had two excellent grilled whole Turbot (on the bone, obvs), some excellent chips and a good portion of Garlic, Pickle, Lemon, Chilli and Pine Nuts Broccoli, all washed down by a couple of glasses of peppery Merlot.Home-made ice cream followed for dessert and the whole lot came to just over £44 per head.Very pleasant, polite service rounded off an excellent lunch.

Door held open upon arrival by the owners.Very very warm welcome given by waiting staff and owners, shown to tables allowed to choose which they even cleaned one especially in the corner for us.Then had a little chat with waitress owner, We were choosing a mid range wine but were recommended A lower priced one. And she was spot on. The Verdejo was delicious!Menus where brought, everything on there sounded amazing.We chose a few starters to share, scallops and squid, both of them superb; and few mains with sprouts and the crab fries to die for.Mussels were fantastic and the sauce was amazing

Nice food and good ambience by the sea! Fit us as we are looking for a quiet place. Love the oysters and family appreciate truffle on the menu! Having to get up a few times to catch attention for orders, but that is probably a good thing so I won’t have one too many to drink! Cheers to the new year!

I’ve been wanting to try copper clam for a while as I’d often walk past it. It didn’t disappoint. I had oysters and scallops to start with followed by skate wing. Friendly service and a good view of the seafront from our table

Friendly staff, dog friendly, allowed to sit outdoors patio area. Starter scallops with pork belly... Good combo, though the pork belly was on the over cooked side. Scallops were good though could only see a couple, expensive for just 2 scallops at £9.50. new to menu according to the friendly waitress. Monkfish and crayfish pineapple was ok, not flavoured enough. Fish of the day.. plaice and new potatoes, was ok, though lacked flavour again. Was assisted with filleting... But don't think they did a good job. Overall, interesting menu, paid a premium for eating on the seafront. Easy to find, good location, had outdoor heaters for those cooler nights.

I have been here a few times when I visited Brighton and it’s never disappointed. Service is good and waiting staff is friendly.Lobster platter is good and highly recommend. Especially on a Sunny day enjoying your seafood with a bottle of wine by the beach! Try the crab chips too!Food 8/10, service 8/10, ambience 8/10, value for money 8/10.
