The George Payne in Brighton and Hove

Lovely pub but very surprised that a large chardonnay cost £13.89 per glass even more surprising when the next day in central London at Lords cricket ground tavern we paid £8.00 for a large glass of Chardonnay.

A real hidden gem that's obviously recently been done up. Had a great beer selection including the Fantastic Shaka by Hand brewing company. Friendly staff and the food looked decent too. I'll definitely be back! Cheers

Staff are an excellent feature of this pub, 10/10 for the service, Guinness wasn't up to scratch and at the price I expected a better pint but nevermind. Other than that it's a beautiful place.

Lovely pub. Very accommodating for a big group of 11 of us. Great selection of drinks and nice atmosphere. Staff were great at helping with a birthday.

I went with my nephew, who recommended it, for Sunday Lunch and I wasn’t disappointed. The pub was busy but we got 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 service from the staff. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. My nephew said the chocolate brownie was the best he had ever tasted and he always has it if it’s on the menu. Having seen the menu on here will be returning soon not just for Sunday Lunch

Went for a Sunday roast on 30 Jan, and have to say we were all a bit disappointed. We waited about 45 mins for our food, which wasn't a huge issue, but when it finally arrived the potatoes were underdone / powdery, and the chicken and Yorkshire was really dry. Expected more for £16-17 a pop.Also, charging £4 for a diet coke when it costs pennies is really frustrating. We were a group of 4, and had 2 drinks each, and had a bill for £32 just for the cokes! Even the barman apologised and looked embarrassed.Really want to like this pub, it's got a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, but underwhelming food and the feeling of being ripped off for soft drinks has not left me excited to return.

Went for Sunday roast. Delicious but quite a small portion. Chose the vegan option - nut loaf (can't believe some places still only do nut loaf as the option!) - and it was quite stodgy.Dessert options great however. Pub is lovely and cosy. Just not wowed by the roast.

Top selection of beer, including Harvey’s and Dark Star. Excellent pub food and regular events including a jazz night make this a special mostly local hidden secret. The Christmas decor is probably the best you will experience anywhere. I’ll have a pint of beaver.

This is a green of a pub which is cosy and roomy and yet comfortable. It had a great garden setup with a couple of heated huts. The Sunday roast is amazing. Permit parking near and around the area.

Kids area for young children, garden with booths, big bar area and out front seating.Reasonable selection of beers and ciders.Came for Sunday roast, meals all arrived at the same time. Food was hot and considering we arrived at the end of the day it was good! Many places the potatoes and veg are hard/over cooked.Service friendly and helpful and full Covid-19 practices in place.Well done and thank you
