Went to see the Josh Peach Trio on Saturday night doing jazz versions of well known Beatles songs. They were fantastic. A talented trio and a great arrangement of music. Thanks guys.

Fabulous jazz cafe and bar. There’s live music almost every day. Food is simple and delicious and the bar is well stocked (excellent beers). The staff are sooooo good...very friendly and helpful. Grab a bite to eat, get yourself a drink and then downstairs for live music.

If you love jazz - genuine, current, high quality, cookin', proper jazz then this is THE place in Brighton.Upstairs is the cafe where you can get hearty food and drink if you're going to see a gig, or just stopping by.Downstairs you'll find a warm, classic jazz club atmosphere and great music, played by some of the country's top players. This place truly rivals some of the London clubs, 5* is not enough.

If, by some chance, you happen to wander up Edward Street - maybe you are lost or have just appeared in the Crown Court that lends its name to this unassuming but wonderful place - then make a stop here for coffee. My second favourite coffee joint in Brighton AND the lunches are excellent and the ambiance calm. There are dozens of great photobooks at the back of the cafe for you to read and, when the weather is fine, you can slip out the back door and eat in the little park adjacent to the building. Jazz in the evening.

Upstairs is quite nice but the venue downstairs was way too small for the audience and the stage was too small for a 5+ piece band but i think that's down to the event organiser. I'm sure it's perfect for what it's designed for - smaller, intimate gigs.

The Verdict has had a facelift. Under new management the food is fab - all local. They have their own verdict sausages which are fantastic and they also do a stonking vegan chilli. We had a great evening watching foxivox - a gem. Looks like they've got some great jazz line ups coming in. Loved it.

I'm quite a newcomer to jazz and to the Verdict. It's a small but brilliant venue with a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. My first visit was before the present improvements and I must admit I preferred what was on offer food-wise pre-improvements but I do see that the reception area is larger now and therefore more comfortable for people to arrive. Lovely place; will definitely be going back.

Great little place, an easy walk from the centre of town. Friendly staff and good beer. Only seen one band here so far but they were fantastic. Well worth supporting proper music.
